Here's the story, of a boy named Brady, offering support to a very troubled girl.
The Brady Bunch star Barry Williams – a.k.a. Greg Brady – has come out in defense of Britney Spears, but warns she must help herself.
"I have great empathy for what Britney is subjected to and the difficulty of it all," Williams, now 53, tells PEOPLE. "No matter what your circumstance though, whatever the challenges are, ultimately you have to be responsible for yourself."
Teen heartthrob Williams was speaking exclusively to PEOPLE during the launch today of his own social networking service at The Greg Brady Project when he offered his thoughts on Spears.
"I feel like, from a distance, Britney is still looking for someone to rescue her," says Williams, a divorced father-of-one. "It doesn't work that way, you have to rescue yourself."
"I wish her well and hope she gets strong enough to make herself better," adds Williams.
