Hide the Bats! Christopher Walken has agreed to play the ultimate bad-boy rocker -- Ozzy Osbourne..

Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil told ABC News Radio in an exclusive interview that the 63-year-old Oscar-winning actor will make a cameo appearance as Osbourne in "The Dirt," a movie based on the band's controversial 2001 autobiography.


"How funny is that going to be," Neil told ABC's Al Mancini at the Opening of Vince Neil Ink, the singer's new tattoo parlor in Las Vegas.

Walken's press representatives did not immediately return a call to ABCNEWS.com for comment.

"The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band" set new limits in tell-all confessionals. The 448-page tome catalogues the drug and alcohol abuse, nasty infighting, and sex parties of Neil and band mates Tommy Lee, Mick Mars and Nikki Sixx.

The film, announced in April, is now in preproduction and is expected to be released in 2008 by Paramount and MTV. It's been billed as a true-life version of "This Is Spinal Tap."

Osbourne toured with Motley Crue and was friends with the band, and his antics, as recounted in the book, include snorting a line of live ants (while looking for a fix of cocaine) and taking LSD every day for a year "just to see what would happen."

Neil says that other stars are going to appear in the film as rock stars, including Val Kilmer as David Lee Roth. "We're doing big, giant cameos with those people," he says.

As for Neil and his Crue, they'll be played by unknowns.

Too bad I didn't know they were casting for David Lee Roth. The president of a company I used to work for looks IDENTICAL to him now (if you threw a blonde wig on him). The resemblance was remarkable!

I think his features are too refined - at least for playing Ozzy later in life. Besides, he was so much associated with Keith Richards with his Pirates movies that it could be "confusing" for audiences.

I agree, but i think they could of picked someone better than Christopher Walken to play him, not that hes a bad actor.

I think Sean Penn would of been a good choice.

Walken would be interesting but he is too old. He's got about five years on Ozzy as it is, much less playing the Ozzy from Black Sabbath

I just cant picture anyone playing Ozzy at the moment, although i cannot wait to hear Christopher Walkens Birmingham accent to tell you the truth! :lol:

I'm a huge fan of Christopher Walken, but I'm not feeling this one at all. Too old, not a good fit.

if the Ozzy cameo in this movie is going to be about the incident I think it's gonna be (when Ozzy and Motley toured together, and Ozzy was such an addict at the time that he snorted up an army of ants... that may explain why his brain is so messed up, because of the ants), then we'd be talking early 1980's when Ozzy was about 35. Someone younger would be much better equipt for that part. However, Walken has built a career on eccentric, playing an ant-snorter would just be another notch on his resume.

I can't picture Christopher Walken as Ozzy at all. (lol!) Val Kilmer as David Lee Roth wouldn't be too bad though.

I've become a fan of Peter Sarsgaard. He's a very talented actor, and plays crazy real well. He was in Flight Plan with Jodie Foster, then Jarhead, and a bunch of other movies. He's able to change looks, from a smooth operator to a gruff guy. He keeps coming to mind in regards to the Ozzy role. He's engaged or married to Maggie Gyllenhaal, and they have a baby.
