I can't believe it's been 5 years since Nell left us. I was a Sophomore in college and I had just gotten back from class. I opened my E-mail and Eric sent everyone an e-mail saying "Sad News", or something along those lines like "Very Sad News". I knew then and there that Nell had passed. I didn't even open it and I knew. I just sat at my desk and the first thing I thought was "That's it, no Gimme A Break Reunion". Not that there was gonna be one anyways, since the show had been off for almost 16 years. Nell was the show. Even after they let the girls go, Nell was there, so the show continued. Without Nell, the show would have been nothing.
Where were you all when you got the news? Who told you? How did you react?
I don't post as much on there boards anymore, since I've been busy with my career in television, film and entertainment, and I can say that I met a lot of nice people along the way out here who have a lot of talent. People who sing, people who dance, people who are comedians and love to entertain, just like Nell. God, I have all that in me as well. No matter how much experience you have in the business, you give it your all, just like Nell did. She started with nothing in Alabama and ended up a big star with her own series in Hollywood.
I hope wherever she is she is looking down on us and smiling and saying with a demanding expression "Hey! what the heck is up with Gimme A Break on DVD!? Every distributor so far has messed up completely in releasing it or presenting it without any flaws whatsover! Gimme A Break, get it right and get my entire six year run of Gimme A Break on DVD, alright?" Nell, all us fans think that way, too, believe me. We miss you and want to see more of you on DVD!
God bless.
