I agree, if they were to release Family Matters, Small Wonder, Webster, Head of the Class, and the rest of Gimme A Break, I'll be a happy woman.

I totally agree with you. First, I have NO IDEA why Family Matters is not on DVD. This show would probably sell just as well as Full House on DVD. They haven't even given it a best of, which is totally inexcusable for a show this popular, both originally and even now on ABC Family and soon to be Nick at Nite. WB says music is the issue, but how much music does this show have that it's that hard to clear?

Sister Sister is another one I'm waiting on. There were rumors it was seeing a release last year, but that obviously didn't happen. If shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Girlfriends, both similar shows and on DVD from CBS/Paramount, can sell well on DVD, why not SS?

Small Wonder would make my Wish List near complete.

Webster was okay - not seen it since it's original run so can't say.

Sister Sister was great - maybe needs a few more years til it becomes "classic" status though and worthier of a dvd release.

WB says music is the issue, but how much music does this show have that it's that hard to clear?

I NEVER UNDERSTOOD THIS TV/MUSIC THING, IF THE STUDIO'S HAVE THE RIGHTS ON THE TV SERIES AND THE MUSIC IS ON THE SERIES HOW CAN THE PEOPLE WHO OWNS MUSIC RIGHTS STOP THE RELEASE OF DVD.

IT SEEM THAT THE STUDIO'S WOULD HAVE BEEN SMART AND SIGNED A CONTRACT TO OWN BOTH THE MUSIC AND SERIES ON THE SERIES ONLY.

SAME WITH THE BATMAN 1966 VERSION. SOME PEOPLE SAY THAT THE STUDIO'S CANNOT RELEASE IT BECAUSE ONE STUDIO'S OWNS THE RIGHTS TO THE SERIES, BUT ANOTHER OWNS THE CHARACTERS (BATMAN ROBIN), IF THE STUDIO'S OWN THE SERIES THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO RELEASE THE SERIES EVEN IF THEY DO NOT OWN THE MUSIC OR CHARACTER.
I DON'T KNOW.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE MUSIC THAT'S SO IMPORTANT ANYWAY, THAT IT HAS STOPS OUR FAVORITE TV SET FROM BEING RELEASED. YES I WOULD LOVE THE MUSIC, BUT IF I HAVE TO CHOOSE I CAN DO WITHOUT MUSIC.

For what show? Family Matters?i During their online chat they had back in May, they said this show isn't on DVD yet because of extensive music clearnaces, but we should be seeing it soon. That was almost a year ago, and still nothing. I don't recall any major music issues EVER in this show's run. I can extensive music issues for other WB shows like Murphy Brown or Living Single, but Family Matters?!?!

YES FAMILY MATTER, ACCORDING TO TV SHOWS ON DVD. IN THEIR TV SHOWS/INFO ARCHIVE . FAMILY MATTERS WAS TO BE RELEASED AROUND 6/2006. ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO. IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE STUDIO'S WAS GOING TEST THE WATERS BY RELEASING FAMILY MATTERS TV FAVORITES.

BUT ON 3/03/06 TV SHOWS REPORTED THAT IT'S WASN'T GOING TO HAPPEN
I WONDER WHAT HAPPEN. IT HAS TO BE A DISPUTE OVER RIGHTS OR SOMETHING. BECAUSE F.M. WAS A POPULAR SHOW & STILL IS IN RERUNS. THE STUDIO'S WOULD BE AN IDIOT TO OVER LOOK THIS TV SHOW. SISTER SISTER ALSO.

Family Matters did have a few music groups and other musicians on their show during the years. Also Carl was always bopping around the house singing some kind of song. And they had like 5 dance-a-thons on that show.

Me too!!! I would love to have Season 3 released on dvd. I can't understand why VEI is not planning to move ahead with this series. Afterall, Season 2 sold pretty well on amazon.ca alone without taking into consideration other markets. There must be something legal going on with licensing rights.

But how extensive is it? Usually Warner is the BEST company when it comes to getting all music cleared for their releases. Murphy Brown season 1 had music in EVERY EPISODE, but they cleared that up entirely. I'm sure Family Matter's first season was nowhere as bad. It's inexcusable as to why it isn't on DVD.

I'd love to see Mr. Belvedere get a release.

MR. BELVEDERE (1985 FOX)

I think Shout Factory are strongly looking into Mr Belvedere. It says so on their official forum.

Lets see, All the groups and artist that I can think of.....They have had Johnny Gill, Shanice, All for One, Portrait, Missy Elliot, Tracie Spencer and Donna Summer, has performed on the show.

Steve singing My girl, Carl singing My Girl. Carl, Harriet, Mother Winslow sings "That's Life" in one of Laura's dreams. Judy singing "Rolling on the River." They have played Babyface songs over and over again.

That's all that I can think of at the moment, I'm sure that later more will come to me.

Oh, In the first season, Well I did some checking and they had...

The Pilot episode (I believe) and a few episodes after that, the opening theme song was "What A Wonderful World"-Louis Armstrong

Grandma Winslow singing- "Stormy Weather"

Judy and Laura sings-"Stop in the Name of Love"

Judy and Laura sings- "Rolling on the River"

Straight Up- Paula Abdul

Carl and his old school buddies singing- "Do You Love Me"

There was a lot more music in the later seasons, now that I think of it. But you only listed 5 songs (excluding What a Wonderful World). Murphy Brown had around 25 songs in its first season, and it saw a DVD release. I'm sure Family Matters would sell much better anyways, which is why I don't understand WB for being so slow with this show in particular.

But, they are releasing the first 2 seasons of Perfect Strangers, which gives TONS of hope that we'll see it's spinoff make it on to DVD this year.

Yeah they probably want to see how well Perfect Strangers will sell to see if they'll release Family Matters. But who knows, maybe they're just pulling everyone's leg and have no intentions of releasing Family Matters. But there's always hope.

Warner is usually great at releasing shows that have never been released on DVD before, but they're horrible when it comes to abandoning shows. I think we'll see Family Matters soon.

Perfect Strangers is said to be selling very well, so let's hope that gives us hope for Family Matters next!

I used to love Sister Sister as a kid. I can't wait until they release this series on DVD. I was watching this movie HATCHET yesterday and Deon Richards (Tia's boyfriend) was in the movie. The movie was really scary and he gets it good:

I know - music could be an issue for this. It did have quite a bit of music in it. But, the first season is only 12 episodes. You'd think those could at least be out by now. It's doing well on both ABC Family and WGN, why isn't it on DVD?

The Wonder Years is the same thing - music. But it had 3-4 if not more songs in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. It could still be years before we see that on DVD.
