Character actor Allan Melvin died on 1/17/05 at the age of 84. He appeared on several episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show. He played Sam (aka Sol), one of Rob's army buddies and he also played Harrison B. Harding, another of Rob's army colleagues. He played Alice's boyfriend on The Brady Bunch, Barney Hefner on "All in the Family" as well as numerous other character roles on countless TV shows. He was one of the greats. Rest in Peace, Allan.

Such sad news, it seems that there are so many actors & actresses passing away here lately.
