LOS ANGELES - Lindsay Lohan is about to see dead people.

The 21-year-old actress will soon be working at a morgue as part of her punishment for misdemeanor drunken driving, her attorney, Blair Berk, told a judge Thursday.

She has also spent two months in rehabilitation and has done some community service, Berk said at a hearing on her progress toward fulfilling the terms of her plea bargain.

Her two four-hour days at the morgue are part of a court-ordered program to show drivers the real-life consequences of drinking and driving. She must also spend two days working in a hospital emergency room.

Lohan was arrested twice last year on DUI charges and pleaded guilty in August to misdemeanor drunken driving and cocaine charges. She has already served 84 minutes in jail as part of the plea deal.

Lohan was not required to appear at Thursday's hearing.

This form of punishment isn't uncommon and personally I think it's great. I've heard of other people being picked up for repeated DUIs and this really drives the point home. They usually are made to work over the weekends when most DUI accidents occur so they can see the consequences.

It should do her some good. I hope she makes the best use out of it and realizes what could have happened.

Good point but for some reason I just can't see her working in an emergency room. I would like to see her get her life straightened out though and if this is what it takes then let's hope it works.

They'll probably have her more observing bad cases that come in than anything else. I would imagine there would be legal liabilities if she were allowed near a patient. Maybe she'll be on bedpan emptying duty! I know that would be enough to cure me!

Seeing what comes into the ER and even just visiting patients...not fans but those who are comatose or seriously injured as a result of these accidents would even be beneficial, particularly if they aren't people who see her as a celebrity visiting. Only four days though? :rolleyes: I think at least a week is in order.

This seems interesting, i hope she learns from it. They should do this with every drunken driver i say.

:clap :clap :clap This is great. I think that if anyone gets caught with a DUI, whether its your first time or not, THIS should be the punishment along with jail time. I've known too many people who have gotten killed from drunk drivers, i have zero remorse for drunk/under drugs drivers. IMO, anyone who gets caught with DUI should serve for attempted murder, because that is just what it is, attempted murder.

Same here, I really have nothing against any of them. Unfortunately because of the way they had early careers in their childhoods and teens, they seem like they get where they think they're missing something and sew their oats in their 20s and in full view of the public. Then we sit here like a roman forum cheering the trainwrecks on or tearing them apart with criticizm. Lindsay so far seems like she's on a good path now and I'm really rooting for her.
I really hope Britney will come to terms with her issues soon. PEOPLE's article about her possibly having bi-polar disorder sounds like it could be bang on. My jokes have long stopped with her and I hope she'll soon see that she does need help. No one else can do it for her.
And Paris seems to have learned and matured a lot as well.

They've all got a LOT going for them and could have the world at their feet.

I really like Lindsey but she has some serious issues. I just saw her Mean Girls movie last weekend and i liked it. I also like her Georgia Rule movie with Jane Fonda even though the movie critics dissed it. Lindsey is a cute girl and i hope she wakes up and stop doing stupid sh*t. She needs to stop partying so much and concentrate on her career and stop hanging out with people who are bringing her down.

Kiefer Sutherland is still in jail for his drunken indiscretions, and will probably serve his entire sentence, while other female celebrity lawbreakers like Lindsay, Paris, Nicole, and Michele Rodriquez - who is probably the biggest drunk out of all of them - were let out with little or no jail time.

I wholeheartedly agree. I feel sorry for these young kids because that is what they are...kids. They all seem to get rich and famous at a very young age and didn't know how to handle the pressures that come along with that.


Anybody who laughs at these kids, obviously never lost a loved one to drug addiction. It not only affects the addict, but their family and friends as well. It is ****ing sad people have to crack jokes at an addicts expense.

I assume you're kidding, but I'll say it anyway...NO they shouldn't!! :lol:
The last thing she needs is that kind of attention for that. I think the only way some of these poor kids are going to be able to get themselves together is if they can get out of the public eye. And we wouldn't want her or any other kids out there to translate the attention into glamorizing it, either. She needs hard reality, not lights and cameras that might make it feel like it's not real.

Only 2 days? I'd think a week would be better. More chance to see just about everything.

And what she needs to do is work at a county/free hospital's ER. They're the ones that get the good stuff. I wonder if that's the kind of hospital they'll place her in.

Good point! And yes, Keifer actual is released this Sunday I heard - after serving his entire sentence, and apparently served it quietly and explenary to boot. Seems the guys always serve longer. Maybe the boohooing does work to a degree. :rolleyes:
