View Full Version : "It was the best of pairings it was the worst of pairings"
If you had to rank each potential male/female romantic pairing (yes, even putting aside the Howells' marriage, bad as that may be)--including every possible combination of one male and one female in any romantic way and rank them according to the "likelihood" of something arising (in any way) between them--which pair would be at the TOP of your list and which would be at the BOTTOM. Do not go by whom you would LIKE to see together but by what the show would lead us to vote as likely or unlikely, given the characters actually interest and ideas about each other. Which is your choice for the Most Likely and Least Likely romantic (in any form) pairing?
mrs.gingerhinkley 01-15-2008, 05:14 PM hmm... without personal opinion? ( )
Clarification please; something arising? Like what. Acknowledgment of feelings, kiss, date, marriage?
(By the way, I hope you reply too Im. I'm interested to see your opinion. :D )
Without personal PRERERENCE, i.e.
Anything romantic, a kiss, serious relationship, sexual encounter--it doesn't matter--as long as it's romantic.
And, yes, I plan to reply--I usually like to let other people answer before I give my own. (Please answer, some people!!!)
I have to make another clarification--of course, the Howells would come out number one, since we see that they're already married. I guess I meant, who would be the most likely ranking AFTER that (#2, as it were)--and you can re-mix each of the Howells in with others (even though they'd be cheating, of course). So, again, the most and least likely.
mrs.gingerhinkley 01-27-2008, 02:26 PM Sorry for the delayed response...
MOST LIKELYWell, first, obviously the Howells. As for cheating, it wouldn't happen on the show. This is Gilligan's Island, the purpose was that people could learn to live together... not SLEEP together. ;)
Second... MAG. This is for several reasons. This involves Gilligan and therefore, a whole plot could center around anything possibly occuring. Now, I'm not saying right off the bat Gilligan and MaryAnn would start dating or anything. Rather, I can just picture some bumbling, slightly awkward, but very adorable scene between MAG. Possibly ending in a kiss.
Thirdly, I can see something small happening between Skipper and Ginger. By small, I mean most likely Skipper telling Ginger he liked her. However, I don't think anything major would arise from this. For one thing, there's to much of an age difference. Also, I think Ginger would realize that Skipper's afectious feelings didn't go past her looks.
Fourth... GP! If this relationship was to happen, I think it would be a result of MAG happening. Like, if all the castaways put their efforts together to pair up Gilligan and MaryAnn, afterwards, this might just get Ginger and the Professor thinking. I also think that if it did happen, it would be some sort of sudden realization triggered off of some slightly insignificant events. Example, Ginger slipping up and calling the Professor, Roy, instead of "Professor".
This is where we begin the "uh, no. Not gonna happen". (Oh, sorry, you said no personal preference didn't you? ;) )
MAP- um...
Gilligan/Ginger- uh... yeah. Pretty much Gilligan is terrified of Ginger most of the times...
mrs.gingerhinkley 01-28-2008, 07:56 PM I was talking to my cousin about this last night (fellow MAG GP shipper) and we came to the following conclusions:
Ginger and the Professor would be the first to acknowledge feelings for each other. This is because while MaryAnn's feelings for Gilligan are quite obvious and deep down Gilligan would have mutual feelings, Gilligan is still afraid of girls; example, "Mr. and Mrs. ???" While the Professor can be quite oblivious when it comes to Ginger's flirting with him, we think there would be some sort of lightbulb moment for the Professor where he finally comes into realization. After all, Ginger and the Professor have already kissed on several occations (however, some would point out that romance was not the main purpose of these actions.)
However, as far as marriage goes, MAG would be the first to tie the knot. MaryAnn definately seemed eager towards the prospect of getting married and once Gilligan came to realize that MaryAnn wasn't just 'an icky girl' he'd realize it wasn't such a bad idea. GP on the other hand would take longer to tie the knot. After all, this is the Professor we're talking about. He's not prone to act spontaneously or just act on emotions. And I think Ginger might be a little bit leary towards marriage.
...
Here is my own opinion:
After, of course, the Howells--
Most likely: Gilligan and Maryann
Least likely: Maryann and Thirston
