View Full Version : Ralph and Norton's Friendship
ToTheMoon 01-14-2008, 06:54 PM I really love the friendship between Ralph and Norton. Even though they argued all the time and Ralph threw Norton out of his apartment in almost every episode, they were probably the best friends in TV history. Can anyone think of some of the really touching little times that really showed how sweet they were?
*ClassicPinUp* 01-14-2008, 07:15 PM I can think of a lot but my favorite had to be when Norton thought Ralph was going to commit suicide... following him around all the time just to make sure he wouldn't. Even after Ralph was so mean Norton kept watch over him. I thought that was sweet.
Bill S. 01-15-2008, 12:07 AM Another notable moment was at the end of "Kramden Vs. Norton," when they both realized that their friendship was worth a lot more than a television set. Norton: "All I want is you!" Welcome to the board BTW, hopefully you'll stick around.

I can't recall the name of the episode at this time but it's the one where Ralph is about to give Norton a blood transfusion. I always thought that was a touching scene. Kinda pulls at the heart strings a bit.

krammar47 01-15-2008, 11:50 PM "The Deciding Vote"...After all Ralph said about Norton,,,Norton still voted for Ralph. I always thought Norton was a better friend to Ralph than Ralph was to Norton.
tv star collector 01-16-2008, 08:51 AM Kramden and Norton were the Laurel and Hardy of their time; even though they fought a lot, you could tell they really cared about each other.

Yeah, unlike some comedies, where the "friendships" within the series' were always knocked off or made into self-interest jokes, all for comedic effect, The Honeymooners always insisted on showing the strength of Ralph and Norton's friendship, and made the show a whole lot sweeter.
