I noticed in watching the last season[1971-72]eps.of My 3 Sons Chip seemed to appear in very few eps.I wonder, like Don Grady who just left the year before and Tim Considine a few years earlier,if he felt his character had gone as far as it could.I remember 1 eps.w/him dealing w/Polly over door to door salesmen and another w/Monkee Mickey Dolenz, but not too many others from that season.I'm not even sure if he was in that season opener's 4 parter w/Fergus Mc Bain Douglas. It's interesting to note of all the main characters, only Steve[Fred Mac Murray],Chip and Tramp were on the show for the whole 12 year run.

I've noticed the lack of Chip in the last season too. It's interesting that the very last episode was centered around Ernie.

I think it was due to the additional characters that he sort of faded from site. Robbie was married and had kids, Mr. Douglas remarried and his wife had a little girl.

Where are Season 11 or 12 eps being rerun now? I have seen Season 1-5 and maybe one ep of Season 12 (where the triplets were doing a tv commercial) on Nick at Nite, but I have no recollection of seeing any Season 11 eps. A local station is currently in the middle of Season 10, and I'm hoping that it'll continue into Season 11. It should also be interesting seeing an upcoming ep (according to tv.com) that has Jerry Mathers and Lori Martin in costarring roles. In the last filmed non-flashback ep of Leave It to Beaver, Lori Martin, who had also starred in the tv version of National Velvet, played a love interest for Beaver and Gilbert, so it was probably interesting for them to be together again after 7 years.

I wanted to see more of Chip and Polly in the last season. It was disappointing that they had so few episodes.

And once they were married in season 11, Chip and Polly rarely appeared in the rest of season 11.

One of things I'm really looking forward too, is seeing the episode "The Elopement" when Chip and Polly get married. I've never seen that episode. I've seen every episode but that one.

Norman Alden was really good in his role as Polly's father. I am glad My Three Sons let Polly be a flawed character as a love interest, later wife for Chip. It separated her character from the normal.

I believe Polly's Mother also played Mike's Mother-In-Law as well ?

It's a good episode (in fact, I like the whole story arc). But without giving away too much I'll just mention no actual wedding is shown. So we saw Rob's wedding and Steve's, but not Mike's or Chip's.

Yes Doris Singleton played both roles.

Not only Chip but I would have liked to have seen Rob return to in the last season. It was ridiculous to have him move off to Peru while Katy stays behind with his family. Katy would have had the marriage annulled if Rob was really running off to another country. Who does this unless they want out of the marriage?

I think I'd rather have seen a fake Rob hired to play the part and keep the role of Rob on the show if the actor thought he was too big for TV. Funny, these actors who get the luckiest break of an actor's life, a regular steady part making money on TV and so many of them wind up believing their own press and then quit their role of a lifetime believing they're such a big star now they can go off and do whatever. Meanwhile all that really happens is they go off into obscurity never to be heard from again.

Saw Chip again on Saturday's TCM showing of "Private Parts". It's funny how he played his part in this movie EXACTLY like Chip. I mean it was as if Chip took a walk on the wild side all filled with freaks and loose chicks. Weird man. Everyone else around him in this movie was a low-life, but Chip was still nice guy Chip thru all the slime, even looked EXACTLY the same. I was waiting for Bub to drag Chip out of that hotel.

“The Elopement” is one of my favorite episodes in the series. I haven’t seen it in about 20 years. If the schedule holds, it will air Monday on MeTV. I won’t give it away.

I saw a handful of season 12 episodes, and I thought Chip was written out at first! He seemed to be in only around 5 or 6 episodes. That final season as a whole was terrible.

Yes, the Elopement is a good episode. I just checked my edit of the episode (combining MeTV version with TV Land version) and only came out with 23:41 time. It would be great to see the full episode sometime. Maybe if they get around to this season on DVD, in 2022 or something.

Re season 12, I agree with some of the comments above about this being an inferior season. However, there is one episode called The Enthusiast which is one of the funniest episodes in the entire series. I highly recommend seeing this episode if you're a M3S fan and haven't seen it.
