I'm usually on the Step By Step board, but there's something I've wanted to bring up about this show.

I have always felt that while Danica was appreciated (and drooled over) by many young boys (and rightly so), I felt bad for her because of what I considered very bad timing.

During the years she played Winnie, I have always felt (and still do) that she was overshadowed by other TV hotties.

Consider that during those years, there was a boatload of young, good-looking TV girls:

Alyssa Milano

Christina Applegate

Nicole Eggert

the girls from 'Saved By The Bell'

Jennie and Shannen from 90210

I'll also throw in Step By Step (I liked Winnie, but my heart belonged to Karen)

In other words, I always felt Danica/Winnie had some VERY bad timing. Great girl, loved her, but to me, it seemed like she was overshadowed by others.

I really think Danica is a very hot woman anyone that is smart like her is a real turn on for me and I hope she gets casted in something soon!

Trust me... when I was a kid, and TWY was on first-run... the boys loved Winnie. I was one of them.

I do remember comments about Doogie's girlfriend, Wanda. I remember the episode where they "did it." 1991-92-ish...

Well you can definitely tell she was picked for the part by looks... not by talent. No offense to any of you major McKellar fans. I always felt like she didn't deliver her lines very well.

I think the overshadowing of Danica that the OP refers to can be attributed to the down-to-earth character type she portrayed on TWY vs. the characters that the more popular actresses played on their respective shows. There seemed to be more of a glitz and glam factor associated with the other actresses mentioned, which is what I think boosted their popularity at the time.

I dissagree; Winnie was a very hard part for a junior actress to play, as she had to display a wide range of emotions (compared to your typical sitcom ditz-girl) and did it very well indeed!

Something about the way she delivered her lines always seemed sort of awkward or bad timing. I never really understand what emotion she was trying to portray . Fred Savage IMO is a better actor.

Not really... I guess because it's been used in other tv shows/movies ect. Sadly, I'm not even a Frasier fan and people give me crap about it all the time, lol.

she's a respectible, lovely looking woman and as far as her acting, she def. had the emotions because you had to let out a variety of emotions when playing that part but sometimes her delivery was off point.

Yeah, I feel like she had the emotions right and could portray them well but something was still off... I can't quite tell what it is. I just feel confused sometimes when she's giving her lines. Oh well, I guess when you're super cute you can get away with it.
