View Full Version : Prosecutors ask to jail O.J. Simpson: reports
waichingliu81 01-11-2008, 05:23 PM Reuters - 11 minutes ago
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - O.J. Simpson, acquitted of the 1994 murders his wife and a male friend, was taken into custody in Florida on Friday after prosecutors asked a judge to revoke his bail and return him to jail while he awaits armed robbery and other charges.
Simpson faces charges of kidnapping, burglary and assault in what prosecutors say was the armed robbery of his own sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel and Casino in September.
Las Vegas prosecutors filed court papers saying Simpson had violated the terms of his release on bail and authorities said he had been taken into custody in Florida, where now lives.
He is due to return for a court hearing in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
"They brought the paperwork to chambers about an hour ago," said Elana Pitaro, a clerk for District Court Judge Jackie Glass, who is presiding over the case.
"We have been told that (Simpson) is in custody of a bail bondsman in Florida and that they are bringing him here for that hearing," she told Reuters.
It was not clear in what way Simpson is accused of violating his bail conditions. Court officials and Simpson's attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

Dean Winchester 01-11-2008, 05:43 PM let's face reality, OJ will never spend serious time behind bars because he's a football great. He'll get a year or two tops.
However, I'd gladly love to eat my words, but I don't think it'll ever happen since he got off in 95 and everyone knew he was guilty then.
catlover79 01-11-2008, 05:45 PM I sure hope we'll get to see OJ in stripes. These are federal offenses - so if he's charged, I think it'll be at least 5-10. We can dream, can't we?
Ireneparalegal 01-11-2008, 05:46 PM Any time behind bars for that f**** bastard is great news. It just means that he cannot go living his life the way he wants and think he can keep getting away with all the things he does.
catlover79 01-11-2008, 05:51 PM How is he still able to pay for his lawyers? Is he using his NFL pension?
TripperFan 01-11-2008, 06:13 PM Yep - just read the update! He was held and has been charged with violating his bail conditions.
What a total loser. This guy will NEVER get it will he?
Cactus Jack 01-11-2008, 06:14 PM Yep - just read the update! He was held and has been charged with violating his bail conditions.

No, he'll never learn. I just feel bad for his kids - they don't deserve all this.
He thinks he's high and mighty and above the law - but what goes around, comes around. Someday his holier-than-thou attitude will bite him in the butt. I don't think those cops and lawyers appreciate his smugness - especially after all he's gotten away with up till now.

What I don't get is how the "black" community (not all, but a lot of them) continue to defend and support a man who is whiter than Michael Jackson! He doesn't support black causes, he doesn't care for black issues, he had plastic surgery many years ago to make his lips smaller, he hangs out with white folks, he dates white women, I could go on and on and on. You get my drift.
That bastard has continued to harass people, threaten people and walk around with that stupid mug of his unscathed. Again, I am surprised NO ONE HAS TAKEN HIM DOWN!

And THAT'S what really made me sick in the trial - that's how he lived his life, which is fine if that's what you choose, but then the guy and his legal team use the BLACK RACE CARD to get off. I had this argument with a coworker at the time and she just couldn't see it - to her, it was all about race. That's absolutely nuts.
Just today, they buried a young woman and her younger brother as her common law husband has been charged with their murders (and an attempt on another brother of hers but he got away). The victims are all white, the husband is black and there hasn't been one word mentioned about it. It's a moot point - the point is domestic violence - period.
And yah, that stupid mug of a grin he's always walking around with makes me sick too! (O.k. - that's off my chest - end of rant) ;)

Exactly!!!! Hello!!! He is using the race card, BUT THE WRONG ONE! He was crying black racism when he isn't even black!

Thank you for that link Tom. Let me copy and paste it here for the board:
LAS VEGAS (AP) - O.J. Simpson was taken into custody Friday in Florida and will spend several days in a Las Vegas jail before a judge hears allegations that he violated terms of his bail in an armed robbery case here, court officials said.
Clark County District Attorney David Roger alleges that in a November voice message, Simpson told his bail bondsman to contact co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart and express frustration about testimony given at the hearing where Simpson, Stewart and a third man were ordered to stand trial.
"I just want, want C.J. to know that ... I'm tired of this (expletive)," Simpson is quoted as saying in a transcript that was included in Roger's motion to revoke bail, filed Friday. "Fed up with (expletive) changing what they told me. All right?"
Simpson had been instructed by Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joe M. Bonaventure in September not to have any contact with anyone involved in the case—not even by "carrier pigeon."
Simpson's bail bondsman took him into custody and was to deliver him to the Clark County jail Friday evening. The bail bond company revoked the former football great's bond, said Officer Ramon Denby, a Las Vegas police spokesman.
Simpson was to go before a judge Wednesday.
WSVN-TV in Miami showed video of Simpson walking through Miami International Airport near an American Airlines counter Friday. He was wearing a golf visor, golf shirt and jeans, talking on a cell phone while a man accompanied him.
"I can't talk to you guys. I cannot talk to you guys," Simpson said before boarding the plane.
Simpson's lawyer Yale Galanter did not return phone messages seeking comment. A bail bondsman at You Ring We Spring bail bonds in North Las Vegas declined to comment.
Simpson was freed Sept. 19 on $125,000 bail following his arrest on allegations he and several friends burst into a Las Vegas hotel room and robbed two sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint.
Simpson has maintained that he was retrieving items that belonged to him. He and the two other men are scheduled to stand trial April 7.
Roger alleges that Simpson left the voice message with bail bondsman Miguel Pereira for Stewart on Nov. 16, two days after Bonaventure ruled that Simpson, Stewart and Charles Ehrlich should stand trial on 12 charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery.
Stewart's lawyer, Jose Pallares, said Friday he had no knowledge that Simpson's message ever got to Stewart.
Simpson, Stewart and Ehrlich each pleaded not guilty Nov. 28 to kidnapping, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, coercion and conspiracy charges. A kidnapping conviction could bring a life sentence with the possibility of parole. An armed robbery conviction carries mandatory prison time.
Three other former co-defendants, Walter Alexander, Michael McClinton and Charles Cashmore, agreed to plea deals and testified against Simpson at the evidentiary hearing in Las Vegas.
Simpson has maintained that no guns were displayed during the confrontation, that he never asked anyone to bring guns and that he did not know anyone had guns. He has said he intended only to retrieve items that had been stolen from him by a former agent, including the suit he wore the day he was acquitted of murder in 1995 in the slayings of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.
You see, that bastard is told NOT TO CONTACT OR COMMUNICATE WITH THE OTHER CO-DEFENDANTS IN THE CASE and he just goes ahead does it. He doesn't care abt the justice system. He doesn't give a rat's ass abt any court order he is given. He thinks he can have a third party contact a co-defendant and harass him? Stupid pathetic bastard. This is one guy that when he dies, I will be LAUGHING MY ASS OFF AND APPLAUDING LOUDLY!!! I HOPE HE WOULD DIE SOON!

he deserves to be shot, stabbed or beaten to death or gassed- whatever way possible, just so we never hear from him or see his face ever again

I agree, every time I see that bastard's smiling face - just like the one he has on his current mugshot - is like a another stab wound to his victims. And I can't understand how any woman in her right mind can have any sort of relationship with him.
