View Full Version : Order for a fanfiction
Remember my idea about putting in orders? Well, I'll be the first to make good on it. I'd like to see someone write a story (a fantasy) about what would've happened if Maryann and Gilligan had met back home before the shipwreck (of course they DID meet before the shipwreck on the boat--but, you know what I mean!). Would anyone like to attempt this?
Also, send in more orders to prompt our prospective writers!
mrs.gingerhinkley 01-13-2008, 02:37 PM Um... any specifics?
Length of story, what happens how, ect?
Any length the writer wishes. The only specific requirements would be--Gilligan and Maryann are still the people they are--only they met somehow back home. "Gilligan's Island," the shipwreck, etc. don't exist, but they are the same people we have seen on that show at around the same age, possibly even a little younger if you like. Is someone actually going to write it. I'm cheering you on and can't wait to read it. Thanks.
mrs.gingerhinkley 02-26-2008, 06:44 PM I had an idea for this last night. But it doesn't exactly fit in your requirements now that I check this thread again.
The way I was seeing it, MaryAnn would bump into to Gilligan in Hawaii a few weeks before the tour. (I'll leave out any further details just in case...)
I'm kind of having a hard time coming up with a way for those two to meet, otherwise I would have done something.
I don't know... get back to me on more specifics. If I would write something, it might not be too long since I'm kind of in the middle of two other GI stories... ;-)
Mrs. GH, you're so nice!!! Of course we understand we may have to wait for this story, especially since you're the only one writing any fanfiction! Anyway, your idea sounds good. The only requirement would be none of the other characters (well, possibly the Skipper) and no shipwreck, island, etc. You can even have them meet somewhere a few years before that, but since she's from landlocked Kansas and he's a sailor, it would be kind of hard to get them together. Maybe Gilligan would be visiting a relative while on leave from the Navy? Maybe Maryann would be on the coast somewhere (but it seems that before Hawaii, she never left Kansas). Your idea does sound fine, though.

the story is up!!! (sorry for the delay!)
jonnycarnahan 05-05-2008, 11:37 AM Hello. I would like to issue a request/challenge for a fanfic to any and all GI fanfic authors:
The Professor gets seriously injured and receives care and comfort from his fellow castaways.
Type: Hurt/Comfort
Themes: near death, extreme pain, , loss of consciousness, struggles against those who are trying to help him, fevered dreams, long recovery
Pairing: The Professor can be paired with MaryAnn or Ginger, if you feel he needs to be paired with someone.
The rest is up to you. It can be any length you choose.
Thanks! :)
mrs.gingerhinkley 05-05-2008, 03:28 PM ^ooh!! I like this idea! ;) :D
Somebody should try it!! *looks around gi boards desperately*
I'm working on a sequel to "Someone For Skipper" and something else which I can not reveal...:p
I really do like the sound of it... angsty Professor fic!! :D
EvaGrubb 05-06-2008, 08:42 AM That sounds like a really great! I'm going to think about it, hopefully I'll come up with something! I kind of love angst, so this could be my kinda thing.
Mrs. GH, are writing a sequel to the sequel to "I don't know why I love you but I do"?? Or, wait, is that the same as the sequel for "Someone for Skipper"? Either way, I hope so -- I am excited for that sequel!
If you ever want someone to Beta read, I am available!!! Just wanted to throw that out there!!
jonnycarnahan 05-06-2008, 05:13 PM Glad you like the idea, GH ... thanks!
jonnycarnahan 05-06-2008, 05:17 PM Hi! I love angst too! I've been wanting to watch/read Professor angst since I first started watching the show when I was a kid.

Do it!!! I really enjoyed the first story you posted; you handled a very 'un gilligan's island' situation very well and it seemed actually quite normal.
if that makes any sense:lol:
hope to read more from you anyway!:)

yeah... ok, this is the breakdown: the series:
"All is confusing in love and war"
"I Don't Know Why I..."
"Someone For Skipper"
and then I'm writing another addition... which will pick up 15 years later to see what their lives are like.
I'm still working on adding a few details to certain characters and then I'm going to get writing... I plan on this story tying up the series, if you will, and I've got a really neat ending planned!! :D
~~I love writing fanfiction!!!!~~
:p

I know!!! It's weird because what I love about the show is the happiness and lightheartedness of it... but there's something about putting an angst outlook on the show...
and especially the Professor. :D
EvaGrubb 05-15-2009, 06:44 PM I just wanted to let you know that I have not forgotten about this! I am working on it now! :)

YAAAYY!!!! (to both sides of your post!)
EvaGrubb 05-17-2009, 08:37 AM Thanks! I am graduating in about a week, with a masters in Art Education... hopefully I'll be teaching art in an elementary school in the fall!! (I'm certified k-12, but I have fallen in love with the little ones).
Mrs. GH - Don't worry, this story is gonna be G/P, OF COURSE. ;) ;)
mrs.gingerhinkley 07-16-2009, 10:42 PM Uh, yes... I'd like to place an order for a fanfic story.
lolz, but anyway, we have all heard the rumour that if the series had continued, Sherwood wanted to have Gilligan and MaryAnn get together, and likewise, Ginger and the Professor. Now, we have obviously followed that idea on many accounts... but how about a story that would most closely resemble what would have happened in an episode. You know, cut out the normal, frivolous frilly romantic nonsense that fills the typical stories. Just, normal, strictly incharacter, GI ness that would adequately explain how it would all begin.
Does that make sense? Ask questions if you want me to expand.

Hello! Wanted to stop in and say congratulations (sorry so belated) on your graduating! Have you started teaching? My Professor fanfic clone whispered in my ear and said how proud he is of you, by the way ... a fellow teacher in the fanfic fold! Yay!
I told him to enjoy his free time between stories as best he can now because he might be getting into some trouble soon in case my request for a h/c fanfic gets done. Now that I warned him, the poor guy is afraid to do anything on the island for fear he'll get hurt!
Wouldn't it be fun to use this fanfic forum to write the characters as if they were anticipating and reacting to the things that are written about them in stories? Kind of a fanfic lounge where they wait for their next "assignment"? That would be funny. With me always trying to get "a Professor gets hurt" story written, I can see Roy getting a bit paranoid. LOL.
