one change is that during saved by the bell the characters were pretty much the same through the whole series ( with the exception of tori). during the new class it would get mixed around every season. what are your feelings on that?

The original series cast was SOLID, damn near perfect. The New Class cast was so interchangeable mainly because the actors were so weak.
A good series keeps its cast.

I like the New Class more than the original. But I'll also be the first person to say that the original is a classic and the New Class isn't even close.
When The New Class was on, it was fun for me each fall to see which characters came back and which were gone. Seasons 2 & 4 had the best casts in my opinion. By the end of the new class only Mr. Belding remained from the first episode. Screech was there from season two for the duration, however.

The mall played a very major role in The New Class, where it was featured almost as prominently as the school and The Max - whereas, in the original series, the mall was only featured in two episodes.

For seasons two thru five, NBC aired two episodes of "The New Class" every Saturday morning. Usually, one episode would feature the gang at school and the second episode would take place out of school, either at the mall, or a Country Club, or a ski lodge, etc.
Seasons 6 & 7 were shot as one season, but NBC split it in half and aired it as two seperate seasons.

I know some people believe that The Max was simply the Bayside High School cafeteria, but that one episode where people were considering shutting down The Max pretty much contradicts that theory.
