I bought his Under The Cherry Moon movie last weekend and boy was i pissed watching that movie. I didn't watch the whole thing but i did watch about maybe a hour of it and the movie was gay to me so i turned it off LOL. Jerome who was a member of the group The Time was Prince's friend in the movie and he acted gay too LOL. Prince has always been gay to me because of the gay clothes he wears and he acts feminine. I like his music though and he's very talented but he's gay. I think he likes women only. At least i hope so but i wouldn't be surprised if he's attracted to men LOL. The male band members that perform with him are gay too. When i used to look at the album pictures of his albums in the early 80's and i looked at his male band members, i laughed because of how gay they looked LOL.

Prince is flamboyant, but there's no way he's gay considering how obsessed he is with the female anatomy. At most he's bi, but I highly doubt it because he's never really showed any signs of it.

Anyways, it was the 1980's, everyone had bad hair and wore makeup in terms of his band members

R&B groups The Deele and Ready For The World also looked gay in the 80's hahahahahahahahahahaha. They wore a lot of makeup on their album covers. Babyface used to be with The Deele. I don't think a lot of black music fans remember Babyface being in The Deele. The Deele made some tight music back in the day. I got all of their albums and i think their best one is Street Beat which is their first album. LA Reid also used to be with The Deele and him and Babyface have produced a lot of classic songs for r&b artists. LA Reid is president of Def Jam records now. I remember he used to be married to one hit wonder r&b singer Pebbles who had the hit song Mercedes Boy.

Jesse Johnson who used to be with Morris Day and The Time looked gay LOL. I got a couple of his solo albums. He always wore pink and he had a long jhericurl LOL.

I'd be pissed too if I BOUGHT that movie. Why would you buy that movie? Now, that was crazy.

Prince isn't gay, but so what? What does that matter? That doesn't change how horrible that movie UNDER THE CHERRY MOON IS. I am laughing at you Isiah for even buying that dumb movie.

I seen Jesse Johnson in concert. He was awesome.

Did you all know that Morris Day now leads the band on the TVOne talk show BAISDEN AT NIGHT? He doesn't look like how we remember him.

Parade is a great album, but Under The Cherry Moon wasn't his finest moment. The soundtrack is worth it for songs like Mountains, Sometimes It Snows In April and Girls And Boys, and of course Kiss.

I had the soundtrack on cassette, but never bothered to ever get the music downloaded for my players.

The soundtrack and the movie are TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT works of art. One is art, the other is crap!

Parade is a good album. "Kiss" is my favorite song on it. Even though, to me at least, it sounds like it was written for a different album.

I agree, Kiss always seemed like it was tagged on to the album so there would be at least one major hit single off it, because for the most part, Parade was even less commercial than Around The World In A Day

I know Morris Day is the band leader on Baisden At Night tv show. I didn't watch a hour of the movie. I watched about 30 minutes of it LOL. Kristen Scott Thomas was in it and she was much younger then. Prince was after her in the movie. I saw her in a movie with Harrison Ford. I can't remember the name of it.

depends on how big a Prince fan he is. For me, the DVD was worth the purchase (since it's not very expensive) just to have the Mountains and Anotherloverholeinyohead videos that never get airplay on VH1 Classic or the like (Kiss is more common and already on the Greatest Hits DVD).

I doubt it. He is calling Prince gay, that right there tells you he is not a fan. If you are a fan of someone, you don't go around dissing them.

Prince is a gay straight man, not to be confused with guys like one of my ex's who is a straight gay man, in terms of that he's gay, but he wears boots, jeans, listens to country and hard rock, does "manly" construction work, but at the end of the day he still prefers guys. LOL

That's what I say. Too many people are hung up on a person's sexual orientation.

Hey, if the person makes great music, who cares who that person sleeps with...as long as it isn't children, it shouldn't matter. :snob:

Yeah, Prince thought he could do it all. I guess he got it in his head that he had seen how directors work and thought, "Hey, I can do that."

Prince, STICK WITH MUSIC, leave directing to DIRECTORS! ;)

Your Graffitti Bridge comment... Yeah, unless you want to waste good two hours of your life, see that movie.

I've always figured he was in the closet, but now that you mention that fixation with the female anatomy, could it be he's closet transsexual even? Not ready to show in public, but boy, his features have always been extremely feminine to me - and on purpose (possibly surgeries). Also the constant makeup. I've even seen Cameron Diaz, Britney, Jessica, etc. without makeup, but never Prince!

The 80s were colorful and flamboyant. I grew up then and listening to thoses groups. back then, I was so into the music, that their styles didn't strike me as flamboyant. Looking back now, it looks gay. I rmemember Larry Blackmon from Cameo, he was the first person who I saw sport a Hi-Top. He dressed gay, but he was cool and often imitated, especially with that phrase "Oww" of his.

I know what you guys are saying, but I have to admit, that sometimes I'm fascinated by people who seem so outwardly homosexual, but keep themselves androginist (sp?) for whatever reason. It's like they've put it out there to keep us guessing. To me, these days, celebs don't lose a thing when they come out - if anything I think are gaining more and more respect by doing it.
I know it shouldn't be anybody's business, but it just interests me. (kinda like why is the sky blue type of thing) ;)

I have a lot of gay / hetro / and effeminine friends but trust me, the effeminine ones would never wear a ruffled shirt in a purple velvet tailored jacket with high heel boots and makeup on. Like long before Elton John came out, I used to think why would a straight guy dress in pink ostrich feathers? (pretty niave - I didn't care, I still had a huge crush on him). ;)

Oh I hear what you mean.

The thing that bothers me are those who get upset with people simply because they are gay, for no other reason other than that. Or they demand that person just shout out to the world I AM GAY only to knock them for doing so.

Prince does seem gay though, doesn't he?

I could be wrong, but maybe isiahthomas meant it as a figure of speech. As in, "Does this outfit make me look gay?" that sort of thing. My own brother says things like that, and he is gay.

too bad that Prince probably wouldn't allow his music to be used, it'd been classic if they started playing Let's Go Crazy or something as soon as Jerry walked out with that shirt on

Actually, I saw Prince's puffy shirt up close and personal. Last summer, I went with my now ex to see him in Minneapolis and there was a huge Prince exhibit at the Hard Rock Cafe downtown there and they had that and some other stuff of his. Not only that, but the venue I saw him in was only a half-block across the street from First Avenue (the club the performances in Purple Rain were filmed in, as well as seen many times in the exterior in the film), so as soon as we were leaving the arena, you could see First Avenue right as you're walking back to your car.

i think that with this particular term there are two types of meanings- one being effeminate, flamboyant and homosexual, the other being 'happy and joyful'. it annoys me though when kids today used that term in such a demeaning context, for eg, 'that's so gay!'. why cannot they just say something like 'that's so strange, wierd something on the lines of that? of courses meanings for words certain overtime, such as 'gay' for eg.

 Yah, that's what my gay friends say too. It's a riot. Like my old hairdresser. He was a complete flame and said he tried to "tone it down" when he was at work because of the older ladies (this was in the late 80s). I had to laugh and told him the only way they could tone down his flame was with a firehose!

I don't mind the flamboyant ones at all - they can be so much fun, but yeah, when a straight man is wearing something Elton or Liberace would have they're opening themselves up to speculation because even gays see it.
