Whcih one do you prefer? ------------------ TVLanFan 11-18-2001, 06:18 PM Definitely L.A.S... I hate the entire cast of the Love Boat (well, Lauren Tewes WAS cute, so she was OK), although I hated them in THOSE ROLES ONLY...I loved Bernie K as Sigfried, and I liked Gavin M as Murray Slaughter... At least w/ LAS, there was a chance of seeing someone you liked in one of the episodes...also, Love Boat ALWAYS seemed to have some old, has-been couple (or two has-been couples) on it...who wants to watch THAT? Love Boat was indeed L.A.S. at sea, the only other difference between the shows was that LAS had separate "episodes" for each story, while Love Boat combined three stories into a single episode...but LAS was the perfect Friday night, 10 pm show for an 11 or 12 year-old kid like me to watch ... also, back in those days, the theme song was cool, and so were the fireworks during the credits...Love Boat's theme song is sooooo corny...who told that guy he could sing? Oh yeah, and Gavin McLeod was SO not believable as the captain of a ship...spare me!!! I think the writing was much better with Love American Style, and I liked the fact they could do everything without a permanent cast. The Love Boat tried to copy off of Love American Style, rather than be original. |
