Has anyone seen it in person, and what did you think. Found out it is about 85 miles from my home in a museum. If anyone has seen it, would it be worth my while to make the trip to see it?

I saw it a couple of times soon after Paul Henning donated it to the museum in the mid-1970s. Honestly, it is hard to say if it is REALLY the truck used in the series. First of all, there are always several show vehicles roaming around. They use one vehicle in the studio, another vehicle on location, etc. It looks real, but one never knows. Mrdata 01-22-2008, 06:09 PM Keep in mind that George Barris made the original Truck. And he has made many TV \ Movie vehicles he also makes replica's to tour the country and to be in his star cars museum there is one such museum in Gatlingburg Tenn. Where he has assembled replica's of most of the vehicles he made for TV and movies I was there and there was a replica BH Truck. And while it looked like the original there were several details that just did not match! The main one was the bench that Granny and Elly always road on. It is completly differant he did the same with the bench on the movie version of BH. Not to mention the movie version had a windsheild the TV truck either did not have one or they kept it folded down I can't remember. Anyway I'm sure the real truck is out there somewhere, Would be nice to see pictures of it on this forum. Charles richieonline 01-22-2008, 10:00 PM Here is a small pic of the truck that is in the ozark museum. Sorry for the quality but it is all I could find. The last last photo of the wax hillbillies in the truck is creepy looking. richieonline 03-29-2008, 11:11 AM ewww. The last last photo of the wax hillbillies in the truck is creepy looking. I agree, i found a reference in the beverly hillbillies 40th anniversary book that Irene Ryan (Granny) actually attended the dedication of the wax museum exhibit. I wonder what she really thought when she saw that?? haha |
