One episode that I have posted quite a bit about is "Samantha's Protest". There was one thing that I noticed in this episode when Katie and Julie walked in through the front door. Katie was carrying a purse and Julie was not. If my memory is correct, this is the third and last time that this happened throughout the series. As far as I can remember, throughout the sereis, the character of Samantha "never" carried a purse! At the beginning of the show, this could be explained first by the fact that she was only thirteen years old and second by her tomboy image. However, as the series progressed, she sprouted a chest, showed interest in boys and even wore a dress every once in a while. However, for some reason purse carrying was where she drew the line! Katie and Julie on the other hand would always take purses to school and always take purses on dates. But Katie almost "never" left the house without a purse! In cases in which Katie was carrying a purse and Julie was not, I am only counting situations in which the two girs were at the same place at the same time for the same reason. The first such episode was in the first season and it was called "The Robbery". For the award ceremony at the police station all three girls were dressed up (although Samantha was rather reluctant about it). Katie were a solid blue dress with a grey shoulder bag and Julie wore a red floral dress with no purse. We then jump to the third season in which Samantha wants to shack up with a guy named Herbie. While the storm is going on, Nell sends Katie and Julie to the courner store to buy something (I do not remember what) for Wendy who is about to give birth. This trip to the store is another case in which Katie took a purse and Julie did not. This brings us to "Samantha's Protest" (later in season three) which makes a grand total of three episodes! Julie was empty handed while she was trying to get Katie to see reality about the handsome guy who they walked past. While she was saying "get in thouch Julie! He always whistles at me! The boy's my slave!" Katie was hanging her bag on the back of a chair. Later in the episode, when the family had to go to the site of the protest, Nell took her purse with her but Katie and Julie both left their's at home.
