View Full Version : Janice! You don't buy DVD's / shows ? Who else doesn't? Ireneparalegal 01-06-2008, 02:11 AM :faint: I just read this on your insomnia thread and I had to ask you this. Who else DOES NOT BUY any tv shows on DVD's? Hollow 01-06-2008, 02:14 AM me... Janice 01-06-2008, 02:29 AM Not only that, but the few times, people have given me shows on DVD to me, I've given them away. I don't want a collection. I hate clutter. I get rid of everything. I give books away after I read them, things like that. dawsongirl 01-06-2008, 03:27 AM Well, I'd have a lot more shelf space if I didn't.... But there's no way. I like having my favorite TV shows available to me when I want them. LuLu Rogers 01-06-2008, 03:42 AM Well, I'd have a lot more shelf space if I didn't.... But there's no way. I like having my favorite TV shows available to me when I want them. Exactly! If I didn't have my M*A*S*H, Three's Company, Friends and Golden Girls I'd be miserable! I really want the first Season of Welcome Back Kotter and 8 Simple Rules and Damn it I want the rest of Night Court on DVD! They only put out Season one! dawsongirl 01-06-2008, 03:45 AM Damn it I want the rest of Night Court on DVD! They only put out Season one! Me too! The later seasons were the best. Damn them. LuLu Rogers 01-06-2008, 03:47 AM Me too! The later seasons were the best. Damn them. We should go protest Cathy! ;) dawsongirl 01-06-2008, 03:54 AM We should go protest Cathy! ;) I'll make signs. LuLu Rogers 01-06-2008, 04:04 AM I'll make signs. And I'll get t-shirts made! Dean Winchester 01-06-2008, 05:13 AM it really depends on the show. I unloaded a lot of my DVD's on ebay but there are a lot of shows I really love and like having the episodes at my disposal (shows like Roseanne, Buffy, South Park, Facts Of Life, Sex And The City, Golden Girls, Curb Your Enthusiasm, several others...). Now that Roseanne is gone from Nick, I feel better about having all nine seasons. tanquant 01-06-2008, 11:41 AM I used to not but dvd on tv I was used to taping shows on my vcr but then I bought andy Griffith at Wal-Mart for 20 bucks and was hooked. The convience of not rewinding a tape, fast forwarding to an episode, no commercials. Now I have a lot of catching up to do on my favorite shows. I love dvd's Mr. Television 01-06-2008, 11:50 AM I don't really have a large TV/DVD collection. The only shows I have a complete collection of is the A-Team and Three's Company. I have all the seasons of Dallas that have been released. I have a few half-collections like Lost and 24 but I have no idea when I'm going to get the rest of them. I'm too slow at buying them because of my movie collection. TJL 01-06-2008, 11:54 AM I honestly don't remember when I bought my last TV DVD. It's been a while, I know that much. LuLu Rogers 01-06-2008, 01:06 PM I honestly don't remember when I bought my last TV DVD. It's been a while, I know that much. Tom, everytime I see your avatar I think about that part in the pilot episode when Hotlips brings Frank in and he's all wrapped up like a Mummy and Hawkeye says, "The mummy strikes!" :rotflmao: Ireneparalegal 01-06-2008, 04:34 PM I know what you mean Janice abt the clutter. I just did some "spring cleaning" when we took down the Christmas tree and I put my living room back to normal. I got rid of some dust collectors. I keep my DVD's in my bedroom because I don't like seeing things like DVD's being seen as part of my living room decor. I remember back in the days when VHS was the thing and we had a large shelf filled with them. I got so sick of cleaning and dusting them periodically. Such a pain. It also made my living room look cluttered. When DVD's became the thing, I got rid of most of my VHS tapes, the rest I have in storage. TJL 01-06-2008, 04:44 PM Tom, everytime I see your avatar I think about that part in the pilot episode when Hotlips brings Frank in and he's all wrapped up like a Mummy and Hawkeye says, "The mummy strikes!" :rotflmao:  Henry: This is Brigadier General Hamilton, Chief Medical Officer of the Seoul Sector! Hawkeye: Oh, hi! ;) friendsfan77 01-06-2008, 05:27 PM Well, I'd have a lot more shelf space if I didn't.... But there's no way. I like having my favorite TV shows available to me when I want them. Yeah me too. Same with some of the slightly rarer shows too. You never know when you might see them on TV again and I realized that for me it's nice to be able to control the rerun factor. Dean Winchester 01-06-2008, 05:29 PM speaking of TV-DVD's, they are great for those of us with insomnia. What way to kill time at night than watch a disc of your fave show? EmoJoe 01-07-2008, 07:32 PM i only buy them if i really, really want them. i think i have like 5 sets in total. Holly 01-08-2008, 10:03 AM :faint: I just read this on your insomnia thread and I had to ask you this. Who else DOES NOT BUY any tv shows on DVD's? I buy them when i have the money..:) Number 9 Dream 01-08-2008, 03:04 PM Same here...and I only collect tv-dvds for shows I really love and will watch over and over again (That 70's Show, Three's Company, Family Guy, etc). If it's a show I just like (but not overly obsessed with), I'll just pick up my favorite season of that particular show. i only buy them if i really, really want them. i think i have like 5 sets in total. Chocoholic 01-08-2008, 03:54 PM I only buy them when I really really really really want them. I don't like clutter either. *Happy Face* 01-08-2008, 09:59 PM I don't buy TV show DVD's either. I stick to classic TV if there's nothing else to watch on TV. Besides all I ever watch are reruns of former sitcoms or else classic sitcoms. I watch Nick @ Nite,ABC Family,CBS, TBS,and FOX. That's about it. However some of my cousin buy TV shows on DVD. Some of them have That's So Raven on DVD. Stormtracker TF 01-09-2008, 07:27 AM I'm the same way as Janice, I actually own very few DVD's simply for that reason. VHS tapes made me hate keeping any sort of recordings in a collection, I swear I have 500 of those in a closet somewhere. OH Nuts! 01-09-2008, 08:05 AM I dislike VHS's for that very reason. That's why I've gotten rid of 85% of what I had and replace the movies & sitcoms I really liked with DVDs, which I put in double sided jewel boxes to reduce clutter. |
