In May (on Mother's Day), my husband was watching a Red Sox/Oriole's game, and the Sox were losing 5-0, in the 8th. He was disgusted and told me to put a movie on. After the movie, he saw on the news that the Sox had won 6-5. It's called, The 'Mother's Day Miracle'.

Yes, the Yankees were playing the Red Sox in the playoffs. I guess it was 2003 and they were down a few runs and against Pedro Martinez. I shut off the game and conceeded defeat. For some reason, I turned the game back on and saw Aaron Boone hit a game winning home run. I almost had a heart attack that night. lol

Yeah. Back before I really became a hardcore Viking fan, The Vikings were playing the Giants in the playoffs in 1997. They were down a couple touchdowns late in the 4th I think, and so I figured playing video games would be a better plan.

So later that night I get called by my cousin letting me know the Vikings won. I was all, "WTF???" Then I really started getting interested in football and the Vikings.

Then there are times, when you think your team has it in the bag with a huge lead, you go to bed or something, and learn that other team outscored them.

I thought for sure the Pats were going to win that game when up 21-3.

In 1986, Montreal was playing in the semi-finals against the NY Rangers, the Canadiens were down by a couple of goals late in the 3rd period and it looked as if they were done like dinner; so, i decided to go for a late-night walk, little did I know the Rangers had taken a 5 min high-sticking penalty and on the powerplay Montreal had scored twice to tie the game, which then would go into double overtime (somewhere along my walk (2 hours later), i saw that the game was still on on some random TV i passed by),,,so i ran home just in time to see Montreal win the game, despite being outshot by a HUGE margin. (That year Montreal would ride the coatails of rookie goalie Patrick Roy all the way to the Stanley Cup......after that night, I watched all the games, the whole way through.)

Kirk Gibson. What can I say? I actually watched the entire game, but my then husband had left the room saying the game was over. HA!!!!

Here is a description of that game-winning grand slam by a guy who had been sidelined by injuries and the outcome looked grim. It was the ninth inning and the Dodgers were losing 3-4 against Oakland. It was sad to say a loss for the Dodgers...so we thought:

"Dodger manager, Tommy Lasorda, surprised everyone by calling in an injured Kirk Gibson. Gibson hobbled up to the plate with announcer Vin Scully commenting, "Look who's coming up!" He was facing future Hall-of-Famer Dennis Eckersley, the best relief pitcher in baseball at the time. Gibson quickly got behind in the count, 0-2, but received a few outside pitches from Eckersley to work to a 3-2 count. On the sixth pitch of his at bat, a ball, Davis stole second. The A's could have walked Gibson to face Steve Sax, but chose to pitch to him, just as Gossage had done four years earlier. With an awkward, almost casual swing, Gibson used pure upper-body strength to smack a 3-2 backdoor slider over the right-field fence. He hobbled around the bases and pumped his fist as his jubilant teammates stormed the field. The Dodgers won the game, 5-4. The telecast of the home run is also notable because the shot of the ball flying over the wall also captures the taillights of the cars leaving the lot, presumably filled with fans who had given up hope and were leaving early to avoid the traffic."

Yes, the 1992 NBA Finals. It was game 2 between the Portland Trailblazers and the Chicago Bulls. Portland, down 0-1 in this game, needed to tie to go back home to take the home court back. They were down by 10 points, when Clyde Drexler fouled out of the game with four minutes and some change to go. I was into the game at that point, and whe that happened, I turned the game off and went to bed. We were blowed out in game 1 with Clyde, so being down by 10 without Clyde made me feel another defeat. I woke up th next morning and found out Portland won with Danny Ainge leading the way.

i gave up on the famous bulls/cavs game the one were michael jordan went for 69 points

Back in 1993 when I was a student at Miami University (the one in Ohio, not Florida!), I attended the football game at Yager Stadium between the Redskins (this was before they became the Redhawks) and, I think, the Southwestern Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. (I know it was one of those directional schools in the Pelican State and not the LSU Tigers.) The Redskins fell behind 21-3, if not 28-3. I left the stadium, only to later find out they came back to win 29-28.

In 1995, the Steelers were in Cincinnati and were behind by a big margin, then my late mom took a nap, and then the black-and-gold staged a big comeback and stunned the Bengals. I forget the score, but my mom missed a big rally.

It was 49-31, and the date was November 19, 1995. I remember it well since I visited someone in Cincinnati that day (away from Paul Brown, oops, Cinergy, oops, Riverfront Stadium, of course!). Of course, that was back when "Big Ben" was in junior high school.
