View Full Version : My New baby!!
Jo_Luvs_Ketchup 01-05-2008, 09:56 PM Okay, everyone that speaks to me knows that I rescue animals that need a home. Well I haven't gotten a dog since my baby Bailey. Well, today very unexpectedly, I got a new puppy. This dog is unlike any 10 week puppy I've ever met. She doesn't bark, she stays at my side, and she can already give you paw! This is her first night ever in a house because she was born in a barn and has stayed there, since we got her from Amish. She is an Apricot Poodle, purebred so who knows, we may show her! lol But we're so happy to have her! I've enclosed some pictures. Her curls are gone for the night because she just got a bath, since she smelled of horses LOL.

Anywho, cute dog. Keep us up-to-date on how she's doing, huh?

TripperFan 01-06-2008, 04:14 PM Got to admit, I had a fit when I read that you got a puppy on impulse, but when I read further that it was from the Amish it made me feel a LOT better! : lol : (The worst thing you could do is buy from a pet store on impulse but if it's from Amish, it's not going to be a puppy mill castoff).
Apricot poodles are adorable! Or Golden Doodles (Golden Retriever/Standard Poodle mix). Poodles are also the smartest breed so try training and tricks early on. Diva's cute! If it had been a boy, I might have gone with Harpo since the hair looks so much like Harpo Marx (long before your time so you may not have heard of him) ;)
Congrats and ENJOY!

I appreciate your honesty. :) Well, we didn't get a puppy on an impulse really. I made a call when I saw an ad for a poodle, just to see how much it was and when they told me they had to get rid of the puppies by this weekend or they had to go to the puppy mill, I felt terrible. So I took my Christmas money, gave it to my mom plus extra for gas, and we went to pick her up. I only felt terrible I couldn't take the other two. I do know that puppy mills can be more cruel to girls with those rape stands so I know I saved the little girl.
She's doing so great! She slept through the whole night last night and right now she's sleeping next to me on one of my pillows. She fit right in perfectly. The only problem is, she is a Standard Poodle..you know those poodles you see with their butts shaved. My mom wants her to have that cut! Noooooo!!!! lol Here are some pictures of her first day here. She looks so at home, so happy.:)

Kelly,
Your New dog is so cute. it looks very loveable...:D
TripperFan 01-07-2008, 10:20 AM Oh I hate those "show cuts" on poodles (especially Standards) too! They look so pretentious! There are other cuts you might be able to get your mom interested in that are modified. I like just leaving them naturally like she is now, or there's a "lion cut" which is really cute (for summer) where they're shaved to look like a lion.
At any rate, it's just great that you saved her and she's happy and healthy!
Jo_Luvs_Ketchup 01-12-2008, 12:41 PM Ahh! I'm not ready for pictures!

TripperFan 01-12-2008, 02:59 PM She's just adorable! I can picture her with one of those Barbie "tiaras" on her head!

My aunt does that to her Pomeranian (or however you spell it) during the summer and the dog's name is Sissy. But when I see her look like a lion I think of Simba. lol.
Anways, Diva looks great. :)

Cool! I'm going to have to do that with my female Pom (your spelling is correct btw). She won't let anyone near her now to brush her - including me. She used to love it but had some bad experience at the groomers and now won't let you near her (she holds her breath and knocks herself out!!!!). I think she'll look really cute anyway.
