Yes TV Land leaves a lot to be desired as PD would be the PERFECT show for this channel. God, I hope PD comes out on DVD!!! Patty rocks--now then and forever!

Yep, they have been airing the episodes in order and they are uncut. I've been recording these, hopefully they'll eventually air all the shows and I can get em all. So far the first 51 episodes have aired, 53 more to go.

Yep, I'm recording these because they're airing the uncut episodes. I like it too that they are showing them in order. Funny thing, this station airs other old shows too but they usually are the 22 minute syndicated/cut versions. For whatever reason, the Patty Duke eps have been aired uncut.

Perhaps they are hesitant to release it since it's a black and white show. And maybe there isn't enough public demand for it to justify a DVD release. Whatever it is, it puzzles me too. I'm just glad I'm getting the uncut episodes from TV, I hope to eventually have the whole series. I imagine DVD's will come out someday, it's too good a show to go unreleased.

Absolutely!! It's a great show esp. if you really love Patty.

Color schmolor. Patty'd be great any way. I'm going to look into writing her a fan letter and expressing how much some people just adore her and would love to see the show on DVD. Meantime enjoy the divine show!

Thanks rich, so far I have all of season one and the first half of season two. The station is supposed to eventually air all the episodes, hopefully they will and I can get em all. Season three is the rare season, some syndicated stations don't air those episodes. That third and final season is my favorite, I hope to get those episodes along with all the others. They gave Patty a different look during that last season, very heavy on the eye makeup for whatever reason. Perhaps they wanted her to start looking a little older, more mature like a young woman rather than a high school girl.

Not to mention that the theme song really ROCKS for the third season!!

Is it true that ABC wanted a fourth season, but only if they changed over to color?

I don't know, but I heard that one reason that and some other shows were cannceled is because they wanted them to convert to color; but found that it would have been too expensive.

They would have had to switch over to color episodes for the 1966-67 season. Because of photography issues and the type of show it was with Patty playing the dual role, it was determined the show would have been too expensive to produce in color, so they scrapped it after the third season. They used a second actress at times for Cathy's part who had a similar build like Patty, she was always seen from behind and didn't speak any lines. So basically the show was just easier and less expensive to make in black and white. But I believe Patty Duke was getting weary of the series anyway, acting in the dual role was taking it's toll and she wanted to get out of the sitcom world and try her hand at dramatic acting.

I liked the theme song of the first two seasons better, for that last season they changed it to sort of a bossa nova style and it didn't come off too well. But as far as the episodes go, the third season ones are my favorites.

It is unfortunate that so many shows felt pressured to go color. Funny, seeing The Adv. of Ozzie & Harriet, Patty Duke, I Love Lucy and other of my favorite 50s60s shows in B & W did absolutely NOTHING to diminish my enjoyment of them. I can never get too much of Patty.

Yep, many of the classic TV shows were made in black and white. They were a product of their time, and many of em still hold up pretty well today. There are some people who refuse to watch anything in black and white, they don't realize what they're missing!

I think only the last Season (#14) was in color. The rest were black & white and extremely enjoyable nonetheless.

(Don't get me wrong, I love color. When I was a kid color TV sets were rare--only one family on the block had one--and I would go apes**t whenever I saw Walt Disney or the NBC Peacock in color)

I can't remember when I last saw the show. There is no hope of TV Land putting it back on. They say they have moved in a new direction and will only keep a few of the true classic's. :(

I wish they'd put Patty Duke on DVD. I'm afraid I'll never see the show again. It would sell like hotcakes if they'd release it!

There are a couple times when you can get a clear look at Patty Duke's double. I think it's the episode where Ross blackmails the girls when he hides a tape recorder at a slumber party.
