I was just exploring the paramount television website and came across their syndication/distribution site. It says there that I Love Lucy has been transferred into High Definition Prints!!! Not sure if this is news or not or those transferred episodes are what is on the dvds.... any thoughts??

This is total guesswork on my part, but the DVD episodes are of such high quality that it wouldn't surprise me to discover that they were mastered from a high definition source.

When I saw Gregg Oppenheimer in Jamestown in 2004 he said that the series was already remastered or in the process of being remastered in high-def. Since he has replaced missing scenes that were cut over 50 years ago, the "new" versions are the ones that are being remastered. He said that they are stored on 500 year high-def video tape and stored in salt mine in Kansas!
