That talking hello smiley ad is really irritating. I wish it could be removed permanently. I hate it when I go on a site and an unwanted sound or video starts playing. I realize it's paid advertising, but could we get different ads that don't have sound?

When I see it I just move my mouse over it again and again and you can hear it echo. :lol:

We've always had any audio/video ads that automatically play turned off. I guess the advertising agencies don't consider the ads that you mouse over to be the same thing. I see that they've added a new category for "User Initiated Audio", so I've checked that box to filter them out and they should no longer appear. If you have Windows Vista, you can turn off the audio in Internet Explorer or Firefox.

well, I listen to music, watch YouTube and the sort on the comp also, so it's my bad :lol:

one of the many benefits of Firefox is the Adblock Plus extension, you can permanently block any ads that you find particularily annoying - and when combined with the Element Hiding Helper you can hide any unwanted page elements, like the EBay feed, the news feed, the individual board pics etc.

I sometimes visit the site from work (shhhhhh) so I DONT want the site to look like anything other than a text-only page
