View Full Version : That Cool Covertible AB 01-02-2008, 06:49 PM What did you think of their cool convertible car? Wonder what kind of car it was? Tom Munster 02-19-2008, 04:11 AM Nice picture, too! The car on "The Real McCoys" is a 1928 to 1931 Ford Model A. I can't tell the exact model year, but they were similar in those 4 model years. Part of the humor at the time of the late 50's and early 60's is that only unsophisticated people would have such an old car as a daily driver. If you look closely at the car, it even has patches on the outsides of the tires! Of course today, a Ford Model A is a popular collector car, but at the time the McCoys were driving it, it was considered an old jalopy! Ford Motor Company supplied the cars for the show and you probably notice that other folks on the show had nice late model Fords. I always liked George McMichael's late model Ford station wagons. AB 02-28-2008, 08:30 PM ^ The patches on the outside of the tires was a nice touch. Mikado 02-28-2008, 08:37 PM Hmmm the car seems squished down/ slighlty modified but, Id say that I agree with Tom, this seems to be a model A......the painted-in part, on the top of the grill, would suggest its a '31 (the final year) model honeybea 06-09-2008, 10:46 AM I wonder where it ended up? Hopefully not the dump. |
