Well I'm back after an extensive trip away from this forum doing stand-up comedy around places in the world and after a year I'm still a newbie so it's good to see all you people. JPENN has vanished from the "Evil" site sadly, as I was looking forward to watching more of his cases.

I want to actually start posting something on this darn forum for once so I shall start by asking what everyone thinks is the saddest or most touching moment on the show. Anyone ever cried or welled up at a re-enactment

The moment on the show that actually brought tears to my eyes was the segment with the young woman who was looking for the good samaritian who helped her in the aftermath of her grandmother's death.

The way UM showed it, with the grandmother smiling at her granddaughter before starting across the street, only to be hit by a car, was BRUTAL in my opinion. Then, add that to the fact that the young woman was mistakenly told her grandmother was okay before finding out she had actually died. Ugh. Worst. Day. Ever.

The segment makes me tear up everytime I see it.

Well, for me it's the Gordon Page, Jr. segment. Really a sad story. Seeing Gordon working, and trying his best to work at his job was touching. The ending was also sad, with his dad saying he wished he would have opened the car door. I still wonder if Gordon is still alive...

The abduction of the Baskin kids. I felt so sorry for the parents, Mark and Debbie. It seemed like everyone let them down :(

I hope Bobby and Christi are alive and well.

Well for me it would be that lost loves segment where the news reporter is reunited with his mother. If you remember the segment he was told for years that his mother left him in a garbage can or something so when she tried to get in contact with him he became angry with her and hung up the phone.

Years later he realized that all the stuff that he was told about his mother wasn't true at all and he went to UM to attempt to locate her. Well they were able to locate her and in the update his mother describes the first night they talked on the phone, she says something like "Before he hung up he said, Ma can I call you again tomorrow I've been wanting to call my mom for a long time" - that line always gets me.

The segment is also one of few instances that I know of that they introduce deliberate irony when doing flashbacks. If you remember they show this reporter as a young boy earlier in the segment and he mentions to someone that he's going to be a reporter when he grows up. I always thought that was kind of neat and wonder if that was his idea to put that in or UM's idea.

I’ve said it before in a separate thread but saddest moment I can recall, and one that I choked up more than quite a little at, was the segment on the Bizarre Murders set titled “Campus Expose”. The mom being interviewed in the segment, the mother of the murdered girl, is just so distraught and haunted by her daughter’s murder. She says she can’t eat or sleep and that she replays the murder over and over again in her mind. In the original segment there are a couple of possible leads to the suspect and none of them quite add up to anything.

Then in the UPDATE its proven out that the murderer was a casual acquaintance of the daughter, only caught through DNA after he murdered another young woman. They come back to the mom, presumably to ask if there’s any “closure” now that they’ve caught the murderer, and the difference in the two interviews just rips my heart apart. The mom is visibly just destroyed. She seems to be barely able to muster the strength to respond. She’s not mollified at all that the killer was caught; in fact, all she can say about it is “We miss Brooke”. She’s so obviously still tortured and racked with pain over the murder and now, and I honestly don’t know if I think she’s better served by it or not, she has no “hunt for the killer” to channel emotions towards.

One that really got to my wife was the Tom Johnson case. The description by the survivor of how the attack went down and how unnecessary it was for him to hammer the poor girl to death.

My heart broke for Sherry Hart's daughter, April. Sherry Hart was pushed off a cliff in 1984 and April was only 6 years old at the time. Before Sherry's body was discovered, April thought that she had been abandoned. UM showed April visiting her mother's grave & I get teary-eyed during that part.

All the moments described above were heart breaking, I am embarassed to say a few of them did make me cry a bit, at least the first time I saw them anyway. Gordon Page Jr was a sad segment. It was sad though for me when Page Sr was going to drive away and Page Jr runs back towards the van and Page Sr just stares at him like he wants to open the door and knows he should but ignores his better judgement and leaves. Just sad.

Well Sherry Hart was sad, what is sad almost as much as her death, is that Richard Baer has been a free man for over 22 years while out on the run, supposedly he is disgusing himself as a woman these days, I know the cops are frustrated with him because they think he is hiding right under their noses and dont even know it.

Also, when Marvin Gabrion killed that young woman and the way that he did it, he didnt just kill her, he threw her in the water alive and let her drown tied up with blocks tied to her. Then all the witnesses to him having left with her suddenly start disappearing, I dont support the death penalty, but I get tempted to every now and then and it is guys like Gabrion that tempt me.

Yes, I remember Gord McAllisters interview very well. One of the things that stuck with me was when he said he didn't care if the killer came after him, and he knew what he looked like.

That sounds right that it happened there. His name was James White. I remember the deadbeat's family actually helped him escape from the hospital so he wouldn't have to stand trial. :mad: Talk about white trash. He was eventually captured and convicted. It seemed like he had several DUI's.

Yeah, the Gordon Page and Gord McAllister segments always get me. It really got me how he just didn't care if the killer came after him---and he knew he was the only one that could ID him---very tragic.

Any "Lost Loves" segment will do me in :( . But the one set in Ontario, where that punk killed the elderly man's wife, had me angry and sad for a long time afterwards.

Gordon Page's segment was sad! Another that got to me was April Gregory, the college student who went missing...and her remains later found. Her dad just sounded so heart-broken when talking about a neighbor visiting them and she reminded him so much of April. :(

Paula Pasciak's mother finding her murdered daughter the way she did was quite sad as well. Her anger and cynicism afterwards, although understandable, was tragic and her life was basically wrecked by this horrible event.

1. The Korean man's touching reflection on his wife Soon Young Kim who was viciously murdered in Brooklyn, NY. His words always make me cry. "I still love and truly miss her" with the crack in his voice. :*(

2. The woman searching for her Canadian son who was kidnapped by the very old father. (She was like 19 and he was 40 when they married)

3. Vietnam POW/MIA cases. They always get to me.

4. A lost love segment. A german man who had a German mother and an American father W.W.II solider. He's looking for his father and the letters he written to his mother, were so sad yet beautiful.

it's gotta be Bill Day episode, about this father who devotes a great deal of lifetime to searching for his son Christoph (abducted by his mother), only to find a bitter end.

Ok now I remember, yeah that was depressing. I remember a few of those lost love searches ending in the discovery that they're dead.

I recall the horrific segment of the car that stumbled on these Texan train tracks to be hit by a train, killing everyone but one girl. The day after her reunion with her mother's family her grandpa died.

The missing/killed kids segments always sadden me! The kidnapping of Marlene Santana when she was an infant got to me BIG time! And Rachel Runyon's death....Those are just two sad ones that first come to my mind....

I was always bummed about the Gordon Page story, and the one where the two punk teenage murderers were going on a killing spree down South and they murdered a young mother in front of her child, two elderly men, and a man whom they went to his trailer for help in the pretense that their car broke down. Always felt bad for that guy especially because he was just trying to help two kids that he honestly thought were in trouble. And he got murdered for his efforts so they could steal his car. Sick.

On a lighter note, I liked the story of the runaway who befriended three men on a bus trip and she said she was terrified at first but the three men made her feel better and like a family. Always liked that segment.

I'd have to sadly say, but when I first watched the Gordon Page segment(at age like 11) I laughed at the reenactment when he stole the truck. Some reason that reenactment was a little bit more funny that serious.

Yeah, those are definitely the saddest. Your comments actually reminded me of another one about a guy searching for his daughter who was given up for adoption. I can't remember the man's name but he played Santa Claus on a kid's radio show, and he might have been a mall Santa as well(?) Anyhow, there was an eventual update indicating that his daughter had died in a house fire as a teenager and that she never knew she was adopted.

When the daughter dies of a massive coronary during the Black Hope Curse segment.

Curse or no curse. That was heartbreaking and painful watching the mother recount it. :(

I've mentioned this before elsewhere, but Kathy Hobbs' mom always chokes me up. It seemed like she and Kathy were very close, and to have her daughter taken away with an act of such senseless violence---it's very sobering.
