treky 12-30-2007, 11:01 PM were dropped from a show-sitcoms or dramas-with no explanation?
the only ones I can think of at the moment are Barneys wife Elizabeth on "BARNEY MILLER" & yeoman Janice Rand on "STAR TREK".

Ireneparalegal 12-30-2007, 11:31 PM Didn't we just have two threads abt this same topic? I feel like it is a never-ending thread topic.
As a matter of fact Mikado, this is called the CHUCK CUNNINGHAM SYNDROME. Named after Richie's brother. Characters who just "poof" disappear.
Karin Argoud and Eric Brown (Sonja and Buzz) in Mama's Family.
Samantha Molly on Life With Bonnie.
Sara Spooner on King of Queens.
Luke Ventura on Married...with Children. Also, a boy named Seven was brought into the Bundy household, but then jettisoned without explanation. He was referenced in later episodes on a missing ad on a milk carton and as a piece of information exiting Kelly's head.
Warren Ferguson on The Andy Griffith Show
Stuart Minkus on Boy Meets World (Appeared on one later episode, referencing also to Jonathon Turner who disappeared).
Lana Shields on Three's Company.
Cindy Snow on Three's Company.
Cletus Hogg on The Dukes of Hazzard.

Ireneparalegal 12-30-2007, 11:59 PM Tina Pinciotti on That '70s Show is revealed to be Donna Pinciotti's younger sister, after Fez hits on her she is never seen again.
On Square One TV, the character Kate Monday disappeared after the third season and was replaced with Pat Tuesday.
In The West Wing the character Mandy did not return after the end of season one, even though the first two episodes of season 2 included flashbacks to the campaign she also worked on. The term Mandyville was coined for her character.
In The Doris Day Show, Day's character had originally been depicted as a widowed mother of two small children working as a secretary at a publishing firm. At the beginning of the show's fourth season the character abruptly became a "swinging single" journalist and all the supporting characters disappeared. The departures included her coworker, played by Rose Marie, her boss, played by McLean Stevenson, and her two small children. No effort was made to explain this change.
In Weeds, the sudden disappearance of Celia's eldest daughter, Quinn Hodes (played by Haley Hudson) following the pilot episode.
Benny Hawkins, the slow-witted repairman on Crossroads, was last seen in 1987 climbing up a ladder to change a lightbulb.
24. The characters Adam Kaufman and Tom Baker both disappeared after the third season. Several characters such as Lynne Kresge, Evelyn Martin, and President John Keeler, were last seen in serious condition but their fate has never been revealed. Milo Pressman appeared in the first season but was dropped partway through. He returned in season 6, 105 episodes later.
In the pilot episode of The Brady Bunch, the family has a pet cat ("Fluffy") and dog ("Tiger"); the cat never appeared on the show again, while Tiger was quietly written out of the show after the dog that played him was hit by a car and killed. A similar situation occurred on The Partridge Family, where a pet dog, "Simone", disappeared from the show in its second season.
dawsongirl 12-31-2007, 12:29 AM That one girl cop they had on for a few episodes of Cold Case. She was horrible, so I'm glad she disappeared.
Mikado 12-31-2007, 12:57 AM That curly haired cop on Barney Miller who thought all NY cops were corrupt (Cant think or the characters name).....he was supposed to replace Yamana but , was only in a few eps and was gone with no trace

Furienna 01-01-2008, 09:55 PM I feel so sorry for poor Judy. She never got a chance... And to think that the girl ended up in porn... And you can't help feeling similar feelings for Brendan on "Step by step". I also remember Donna having a sister for ONE episode on "That 70s show". Weird...

treky 01-02-2008, 12:42 AM also, Frank Lorenzo on "ALL IN THE FAMILY" and a couple seasons later, Irene Lorenzo.
Also, Stretch Cunningham.
Nighthawk76 01-02-2008, 12:45 AM also, Frank Lorenzo on "ALL IN THE FAMILY" and a couple seasons later, Irene Lorenzo.
Also, Stretch Cunningham.
Well, Stretch died. However, they never did explain why Irene and Frank left.
catlover79 01-02-2008, 12:48 AM Speaking of Barney Miller...my man Chano (Gregory Sierra) left without explanation after Season 2. :crying:
treky 01-02-2008, 01:00 AM Pearl and Jethrine on "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES", also Janet Trego and Mrs. Drysdales father, I think his name was Lionel Farqua, or something.
Lorimar Television 01-02-2008, 07:35 PM I feel so sorry for poor Judy. She never got a chance... And to think that the girl ended up in porn... And you can't help feeling similar feelings for Brendan on "Step by step". I also remember Donna having a sister for ONE episode on "That 70s show". Weird...
I know. You could tell she was a good actress from her earlier, more dialog filled, episodes.
Ireneparalegal 01-02-2008, 07:38 PM I feel so sorry for poor Judy. She never got a chance... And to think that the girl ended up in porn... And you can't help feeling similar feelings for Brendan on "Step by step". I also remember Donna having a sister for ONE episode on "That 70s show". Weird...
She was on Oprah and I believe, if I remember correctly, she only did one movie and that was enough for her. It was a "soft-porn" movie, not those hardcore things.
Furienna 01-02-2008, 09:04 PM Well, all porn is just as bad to me. And poor Jaimee Foxworth did several pornos and not only one either. And to think that Darius McGrary and Kelly Williams, who played her siblings on the show, were still going strong for its 9th and last season, at the same time as she went into porn... Something was amiss there. I'm glad she's out of it now though.

I agree, porn is porn, but her circumstances were financial and she felt she had to make money ASAP. People who do porn supposedly do it because "they want to" and they "love it"...Jaimee didn't. She never went into it wanting to do it, she had apprehensions abt it. These are her words on Oprah:
Once an innocent child star, Jaimee found herself entering into the seedy underworld of porn. At age 19, she says she agreed to do a photo shoot for a swimsuit calendar. When she arrived at the studio, Jaimee realized there was more money to be made in the adult film industry. Intoxicated and feeling pressured by her boyfriend to come up with some cash, she agreed to do an explicit sex scene with another actress. During this time, Jaimee recounts that her "self-esteem was just completely to the floor." "It was, to me, the quickest money," Jaimee says. "I was so naïve, and I was drinking." After living the life of a child star, Jaimee says she didn't have any skills to fall back on and working at a fast-food joint wasn't an option that she considered. "I'd never lived a normal childhood," she says. "I always went to auditions." Jaimee remembers feeling ridiculous and degraded after making a porn film, but she never thought anyone would find out…at least not for a few years.
She had earned money as a child. However a court ruled that the money she had earned, over $500,000.00 in a trust account, was to be used to get her family out of bankruptcy. A judge had ordered that her family can use her hard-earned money to save themselves from their financial stupidity. She was left to fend for herself, she had no skills other than being an actress, and she had financial woes herself since she was now an adult.
Believe me, I cannot judge the girl for doing what she did out of desperation, being depressed, and so forth. She was not thinking, she was naive and she felt pressured. We should all be thankful to have never been in a situation that had befallen Jaimee.
Lorimar Television 01-03-2008, 07:17 PM Exactly. She's truly a good person. I can't believe Kellie wouldn't help her, I read they were best friends on the set. Maybe talk them into hiring her back.

How about Stanley on King of Queens? He was in maybe a few episodes, just sitting on the couch or sitting on the kitchen floor. They never used him for anything(unlike Eddie on Frasier) so you never saw him again. Then there was a later episode where Carrie said she wanted to get a dog and another episode where Doug wanted to get a puppy. I used to think Huh? You had a dog!!

Yep, that's another pet that disappeared.
Lorimar Television 01-05-2008, 06:11 PM Doesn't Mr. Needles on "George Lopez" stop showing up after season 3?!
treky 01-05-2008, 06:17 PM also, Carries sister on the first episode of "KOQ".
catlover79 01-05-2008, 10:36 PM also, Carries sister on the first episode of "KOQ".
Carrie's sister was played by Lisa Rieffel, who was also dropped w/o explanation from Empty Nest. On that show, she played Richard Mulligan's youngest daughter, who was brought in after Kristy McNichol's unexpected exit (due to medical issues).
BensonFan 01-05-2008, 10:44 PM Cindy Snow on Three's Company.
I don't think I'd include this one, simply because it was mentioned on the show that she was going "away" to school (to UCLA)--and I know that was just 10 minutes from where they lived, but at least that was SOME explanation, unlike Lana's disappearance, which wasn't explained at all.
catlover79 01-05-2008, 10:46 PM also, Carries sister on the first episode of "KOQ".
Wasn't DOUG'S sister played by Ricki Lake??
Adamantium 01-06-2008, 12:45 AM John Burns - Taxi - He was in the first season as a new driver. He only lasted the first season, never to be seen or heard from again. You could say Louie fired him, since he wrecked a beloved cab in his final episode, but that wouldn't be official, of course.
Walt - NewsRadio - Okay, he was only in a few episodes at the end of the fourth season. However, he went from being an intern to a staff member to gone without explanation.
Anita & Holly - Ellen - They were friends of Ellen's in the debut season (then titled "These Friends of Mine). Anita left after doing seven episodes and Holly left after doing the full 13 episodes. Both went unexplained. Obviously, otherwise, I wouldn't be posting it here, lol.
Scott, Weasel, Vicki, Megan, Brian, Bobby and RJ - Saved by the Bell: The New Class - Those were characters who left the show without explanation. The others who left the series (Tommy, Lindsay, Rachel and Ryan) were all mentioned in the first episodes without them.
treky 01-08-2008, 02:48 AM Wasn't DOUG'S sister played by Ricki Lake??
yea; that's another one; come to think of it!
treky 01-08-2008, 02:51 AM the Drysdales maid and butler; Marie and Ravenswood on "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES".
Also, Mrs. Drysdale-she wasn't in it the last couple seasons.
littlebelle 01-08-2008, 07:34 PM "Brendan Lambert" (Josh Byrnes) from Step by Step. I believe that was one of the most dramatic character drops ever... he was a one of Frank's sons and all of a sudden vanished without ANY explanation, clues ect. Way to go Miller Boyett
bingbangbaby 01-09-2008, 02:45 AM Yep, that's another pet that disappeared.
There were a lot of pets that disappeared in shows. Who's the Boss had a dog for a few episodes in season one too then he went up to Mona's apartment and we never saw or heard about him again.
brokecrazy 01-17-2008, 10:40 PM The youngest daughter in the Bonnie Hunt show disappeared with no explantion.
treky 01-22-2008, 03:14 AM the Huxtables had another daughter in the pilot episode of "THE COSBY SHOW' that dissapeared with no explanation.
didn't the Cleavers have a housekeeper on the first episode of "LEAVE IT TO BEAVER"? (not the pilot)
"MASH" had a few characters in the early shows who also dissapeared. Lt. Dish, Spearchucker, that guy who was the cooks assistant-ormaybe he was the cook-in "ADAMS RIBS" (I think they only showed him in that one show, and only in one scene), the cook in "THE LONG JOHN FLAP" and "PRIVATE CHARLES LAMB" (they never said his name), the cook in two of the later episodes, I don't know the names. They're the ones where the officers and enlisted personnel switched places, and the one where an A.W.O.L soldier proclaimed "sanctuary" in the mess tent, and the B plot was the unit had some eggs (they never said his name, either).
Lucys sons and daughter in the early episodes of "THE LUCY SHOW".
Furienna 01-22-2008, 05:33 AM the Huxtables had another daughter in the pilot episode of "THE COSBY SHOW' that dissapeared with no explanation.
Actually, it was the other way around. They had four children in the pilot, but then they suddenly added Sondra, so they had five.
MrRetro_08 01-22-2008, 06:57 PM On "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air", Will's friend Tyriq also went out of the show and wasn't metioned again.
Furienna 01-22-2008, 07:03 PM True! (He was never a regular though.)
