I know - why in the world would he even try to do a thing like that, just because of a story his dad told him. And to think - just 3 years later he became a teacher-LOL

It might be hard to estimate how much water will cause damage, and Theo was never the brightest bulb in the box anyway. But I'm surprised that his roommates, who were engineer students, didn't know better than that.

Help! Are we talking gallons here? We use the metric system over here in Europe, and while I can understand inches, feet, miles and pounds, I can never get the hang of gallons. I know a gallon is more than a liter though.

But really, yes, they might have been stupid, but Theo wasn't very smart either.
