View Full Version : Question For Charlie Brown and Snoopy Fans
LuLu Rogers 12-28-2007, 10:41 PM Ok guys, when I was little, I think it was like 1990, my grandmother gave me a Fisher Price video tape of a Peanuts cartoon. In this cartoon, Charlie Brown sends Snoopy to the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm for an Obedience course. Since it's such a long trip, Charlie arranges for Snoopy to spend the night with Peppermint Patty before continuing on his trip. Snoopy likes the way Patty fawns over him and ends up staying with her. When she figures out that he's taking advantage of her, she puts him to work doing all of the house hold chores. I cannot find my video tape anywhere and was wondering if anyone might know if this is on another tape or dvd? Thanks for your help!

Merrie Melodies or just gay 'toons?
by Leora Broydo
Thank God the Rev. Jerry Falwell has stepped in to clean up children's television. Last week he outed Tinky Winky, from that perverted show the"Teletubbies," because, Falwell pronounced, the character is clearly a fount of gayness: He's purple, the gay color; he has an antenna shaped like a triangle, the gay symbol; and he carries a purse, something all gay people do.
But Falwell's work is far from over. You see, kiddy TV is downright rife with gayety. Heck, Toon Town is like one big circuit party and has been for years.
*** Fred Flintstone
Evidence: His nickname on the Bedrock bowling team: "Twinkle-toes Flintstone." The show's theme song ends "...we'll have a gay old time!" Wears an orange dress with little triangles on it. Hangs out with Barney far more than Wilma.
*** Bugs Bunny
Evidence: Often stands with hand on hip. Plays a hairdresser in one episode. Frequently dresses in drag. Loves to throw on a top hat and tails and belt out Broadway show-tunes with his buddy Daffy -- who, it's worth noting, has a lisp.
[King Daevid notes: Ms. Broydo omits Bugs' history of kissing Elmer Fudd on the lips; Roger Rabbit is also seen kissing Eddie Valiant in WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT?]
*** Velma (of Scooby Doo)
Evidence: Always tries to sit next to Daphne in the Mystery Machine. Sports that butch haircut. Has broad shoulders and wears thick turtleneck-sweaters and knee socks. Never once shagged Shaggy.
*** Popeye
Evidence: Eats lots of salad. Wears a sailor suit, even though he hasn't been on a ship in years. Does little sailor-dances. Dates a flat-chested transvestite named Olive Oyl. Best friend named Wimpy.
*** Batman and Robin
Evidence: Robin's nickname: Boy Wonder. Batman's real name: Bruce. Both wear tights. They're in great shape. They like to show each other their "grappling hooks."
*** Peppermint Patty
Evidence: Has a deep, gravelly voice. Wears pants, not dresses like the other Peanuts gals. Plays a mean game of football. Likes to taunt Charlie Brown. Always hanging out with that androgynous Marcie. Wears comfortable shoes.
Nickname: Sir.
*** The Pink Panther

Okay this thread is getting disgusting with the subject veering off on a "Peppermint Patty is gay" theme. Trust me, she's not and that video that was posted was just stupid. I watched about two seconds of it and when I saw that it wasn't a "real" Peanuts video, I stopped.
I love Peppermint Patty and if I could be a Peanuts character that's who I'd be. If you ever watched the show (or any Peanuts shows), you'd see that she has always had a thing for Charlie Brown, whom she affectionately calls "Chuck".
Charles Schulz would surely turn over in his grave if he knew people are saying this about one of his characters and I'm sure his family would be none too happy to hear it either.
People always say that Peppermint Patty is "gay" only because she hangs around Marcie. Marcie is her best friend and they do everything together (including pining for "Chuck").
Saying Peppermint Patty is gay is just as bad as those people who say that Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street are gay. Absolutely INSANE! Just because two people (or in this case 'cartoons' or 'muppets' hang around together doesn't mean that they are gay....
"Not that there's anything wrong with that."
Andrea
LuLu Rogers 08-16-2008, 02:25 AM This thread was all meant in fun, no one is saying that these cartoons are "gay" they're cartoons for crying out loud! No reason to get upset. :)
