The Michipicoten Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to aid the Hawk Junction Fire Department just before 10:30 Thursday evening.

Corner Gas , a gas bar and restaurant in Hawk Junction burned to the ground in a blaze of glory Thursday night. As Wawa-news Brenda Grundt her made its way to Hawk, "the flames were casting an amber glow visible from Highway 101" Grundt reports.

Hawk Junction is about 3 hours north east of Sault Ste. Marie.

At the restaurant, flames were shooting through the roof, and a good portion of the roof above the 2nd floor apartment had already collapsed.

As the fire continued, the combined firefighters had their dificulties.

Not only were they seeing the winds increase, they didn't have enough water. The Hawk Junction pumper lost its prime, and couldn't refill its tank. Eventually matters were solved and water was pulled from McVeigh Creek (Finntown). In actuality, although the firefighters were frustrated, it made no difference, the building was already so badly damaged that it couldn't have been saved. Hawk Junction does not have fire hydrants.

Disclaimer:
Maybe i should have put this up on April first......dont worry, the Corner gas set is fine ;) (This was an actual business named Corner Gas  )

That sucks about the real building that was lost.

I was worried that the set was gone though when I saw the title of the thread.

Yeah, I thought the same thing when i saw the headline, and I was relieved that the set is ok (I wonder if CTV would have it rebuilt or just cancel the show if it did happen????) I wonder if this was the station that gave Brent Butt the idea in the first place ;)

It looks like a pretty big fire. Hopefully no body was hurt.

it doesnt say anything about casualties , so, likely the place was empty at the time
