I've still got to get Season 3. I've looked for it at Walmart & Borders, neither had it, I may check Hastings, they'll order it, if its not in stock.

There is a local station here in Columbus,Ohio that has been airing Gomer Pyle every day mostly in order for the last 2 or 3 months. They are currently about half way through season 3.I'll be recording those season 4 and 5 episodes (as long as they do air them).I started recording these from about half way through season 2 on DVD in SP mode on 3 episodes a disc.I've missed a few episodes due to not changing the discs in the recorder.:( Why go through the trouble?Well you never know for 100 percent certainty that the full run of this series will be released.I'm pretty sure seasons 4 and 5 will come out but something could happen.I also like the original music on the syndicated shows.I'm assuming the syndicated version that I'm recording does not have any music edits.I've heard some original music was edited out on the season 2 and 3 releases.

You have to check the running times of your episodes minus the commercial time. If the episodes are about 25 1/2 minutes long (without commercials) then they are uncut. Less than 25 minutes long, the episodes are cut.

A few episodes from the season two DVD that are cut versions are Gomer Untrains A Dog, Gomer Captures A Submarine, and Little Girl Blue. A couple eps from season three that are cut are To Re-Enlist Or Not To Re-Enlist and Lou Ann Poovie Sings Again. Do you have these eps recorded from TV? If so, compare em to the factory DVD versions and see if the TV airing contains stuff that isn't on the DVD. On the factory DVD's, they seem to have cut out scenes that contain singing.

Thanks for the tip.
I'll check out the run time on these episodes I'm recording.I don't have season 2 or 3 factory releases yet to compare. One of the nice things is unlike TV Land showings, the ending credits do not go to that irritating split screen promoting an upcoming show. It's clean in that way.I suspect there is some editing but it seems not as much as TV Land who chops there episodes to like 22 minutes.

Yep, I know what you mean about TV Land. They are notorious for cutting up episodes. I have recordings of Emergency! which they aired during the 90's, and about six minutes is chopped from those episodes because it's an hour long show. Good thing Universal has been issuing the uncut episodes on DVD, season four is due out in about a month.

Apparently others are ready as well because season four is scheduled to come out on May 20th. It's great that they are releasing the seasons so quickly, if they just wouldn't make cuts to some of the episodes. Knowing some episodes are cut takes away from the enjoyment of the programs. But at the rate they're going, the fifth and last season should be out by the end of the year, so no complaint about that.

I recorded about 95% of the episodes back in the 90's when TBS was showing Gomer Pyle USMC. There on VHS tapes and still look good. I've been watching them alot the last 4 days, I can't get enough of the show, LOL. They probably are cut, but it doesn't matter to me, I still enjoy them just the same.
