View Full Version : 'Tootsie' or 'Mrs Doubtfire'- what's your favourite crossdressing film?
waichingliu81 12-22-2007, 01:45 PM i saw tootsie for the first time when it was screened on tv 2 days ago and realised it was as great a film as others have made it out to be. dustin hoffman was great. i have also seen mrs doubtfire a few times but whilst robin williams is a great comic and the film was funny at times, i felt it lacked the magic of tootsie and so in contrast, it wasn't better than the 1982 effort
catlover79 12-22-2007, 01:48 PM Tootsie - hands down! I also love the song "It Might Be You", sung by Stephen Bishop.
Nighthawk76 12-22-2007, 01:50 PM I'm not a fan of either film, I'm afraid. My two favorite "crossdressing" films are Dressed To Kill and Psycho.

Tootsie - hands down!
Brian 12-22-2007, 04:01 PM Tootsie. It's well-written, it's funny, and I love the music.
Dean Winchester 12-22-2007, 04:11 PM between the two, Tootsie, but both films are hilarious.
I think "The Crying Game" is probably the best crossdressing movie ever made tho (oops, did I spoil the "plot twist"? LOL)
Cactus Jack 12-22-2007, 05:28 PM between the two, Tootsie, but both films are hilarious.

I havent seen the movie, but I know what happens, so its fine with me
Dean Winchester 12-22-2007, 09:08 PM I remember when the movie came out and they made such a big deal about not giving the "secret" away, I'm surprised they kept the secret as long as they did, but they pretty much gave it out on the Oscars that year when they showed a scene with Dil with short hair when showing scenes.
To be honest tho, I am surprised nobody realized Dil was a man until seeing the movie when Jaye Davidson was nominated for Best Supporting Actor that year, yet people still went to the movie and became surprised that the hot chick was actually a dude.
Skywalker 12-22-2007, 09:51 PM Tootsie. I also like Some Like it Hot and Just One of the Guys.

Just One Of The Guys is one of the best 80's teen movies. I don't think it gets anywhere the due it deserves. That movie was a mainstay on HBO for about 15 years, an entire generation of people grew up watching that movie

I agree, it's such an underrated film. I first saw it on HBO in the late 90's and finally bought it on DVD earlier this year. I was pissed when I found out that it was only available in full screen.
Mikado 12-22-2007, 10:40 PM Neither, this film is far superior to either of them as a "crossdressing comedy"

I agree as much as I like Mrs. Doubtfire and Tootsie, Some like it Hot is just such a great movie with a excellent cast. I thought 95% of that movie was funny, not saying the other ones are funny it's just some like it hot is just really really funny.
waichingliu81 12-27-2007, 06:20 AM i have to confess that i still haven't seen 'some like it hot'. i should purchase it on dvd. btw, unlike mrs doubtfire and tootsie, that movie is a musical, rather than a comedy film on cross-dressing itself
livsforluv 12-27-2007, 11:29 AM I think Some Like it Hot was the best!

Actually Wai, while there are a couple of musical numbers, SLIH is a comedy, not a musical, per se .......and it's hilarious (I've never been much of a Tony Curtis fan, but, I liked him in this.)
