They'll use more interviews and write their own material. It's being done to put their staff back to work, the ones who were laid off due to the strike. Johnny Carson did this in the 80's when the writers went on strike.

If they have union writers, regardless of anything else, aren't they still breaking the strike or whatever it's called? Why are they allowed to do this without criticism, when other shows can't? What about the staff of other shows? Why can't I get a reasonable answer to this question? Ellen was called a scab. What gives?

I was actually referring to these boards and the WGA. Even so, I've read many articles about Jay and Conan, and they seem to be doing this with minimal criticism. The WGA was angry about Ellen, but gave them their blessing, or so it seems.
