Two years and two thousand threads later, I'm still here. I thought it was
about time I talked a little bit about myself (very little). So, here is a sort
of capsule biography: I was born in Spartanburg, S.C., on June 18, 1947
(I share the same birthday with former Beatle Paul McCartney). I grew up in
upstate New York, where I majored in Business Administration at Corning
Community College. My father worked for Corning Glass Works (now known as
Owens-Corning) for many, many years. When he retired, we moved to South
Carolina where my mother's daughter by her first marriage lived. When my
mother passed away, I moved with my dad to Florida, where two of his
brothers lived. A couple years later, he died; and I moved back to South
Carolina, where I lived with my half-sister, until she died in October, 2001.
I bought her house from her son and daughter (my nephew and niece), and
I am still living here in the same house I have since 1984.

I worked at the local hospital here for 19 years, in the data processing (or
information services) department for most of that time. After a layoff, I
found a part-time job as a desk clerk at a motel here. Then I found a second part-time job as a cashier at Wal-Mart (both jobs were about five minutes from home), until a nervous condition precipitated my dismissal due to
excessive absences. But, thank heaven, I still have my first part-time job.

In my spare time, I have always enjoyed reading comic books and watching
television. In 1958, at the age of eleven, this led me to create, write and draw my own comic stories, featuring my own characters. I've been doing
that--off and on--for nearly fifty years now.

My other interests include animated cartoons (which should be obvious from
my avatar!) and listening to popular and country music. Oh, and I should
also mention that I have always loved animals, esp. dogs. Currently, I have
a miniature six-year-old Dachshund named Heidi.

Well, that pretty much sums up my life story.
