Brian Damage 12-17-2007, 02:01 AM The only thing that stinks about it, is the stupid news has to interrupt it.
Frank Gannucci 12-17-2007, 01:23 PM I see that for once WPIX will include Lost Episodes. They have NEVER done that for their annual Honeymooners Marathon before.
Bill S. 12-21-2007, 12:02 AM Also, doesn't it seem a little strange that they finally decided to include Lost Episodes in this year's marathon, but for some reason or another left out "New Year's Eve Party"?
Frank Gannucci 12-21-2007, 12:39 AM In 1997, I remember going through online TV listings during the 1997 holiday season and I can remember the online guides claiming that WPIX was going to show "New Year's Eve Party" in two parts a couple days prior to the "new year". I don't know if WPIX aired it or not, but if they didn't, it probably was because the songs at then end of the show. I can imagine that WPIX would have to pay $$$ to get the rights to air those songs.

Interesting point about the songs, I didn't think of that. So WPIX never aired that episode before? I always kind of assumed that if "New Year's Eve Party" was ever shown on TV, that scene at the end would be cut for some reason. I guess the song thing also applies to "Christmas Party," I was wondering about that one as well, since it is the holiday season and "Twas The Night Before Christmas" is included as part of the marathon.

I always presumed that the New Year's Show, along with Santa and the Bookies and Christmas Party were kept out of the syndication package because they were combined into Season's Greetings from the Honeymooners, a two hour special syndicated special by Viacom in the 80s. It ran for a few seasons, then disappeared. I figured that no one went back to change the package and include them since it would mean that they would have to be edited into the half hour format. I'm sure the music issues also figured in it, too.
Frank Gannucci 12-21-2007, 10:58 PM I do remember Nickelodeon showing Honeymooners Christmas episodes in '95 & '96. One of the shows I remeMber TV Guide advertising was "Santa & The Bookies." It may have been edited into a half-hour format or shown in two-parts.
Also, like I may have said before, I remember scanning the online guides back in '97 and they said that WPIX was going to show "Honeymooners Christmas Party" & "New Year's Eve Party" during the holiday season. Each episode was going to be shown in TWO PARTS. I don't know if the guides were right or not because I din't bother to wake up at 2:30am to watch the show as well as set my VCR to record them since I already had the shows on VHS.
I wouldn't be surprised if WPIX didn't air them because of the songs that were in the episodes would cost them $$$ to get the rights to and if they edited them out, then they might as well have shown each episode in a half-hour format with perhaps even more material edited out for commercial time.
tanquant 12-24-2007, 01:36 AM Man I miss living in New York.:( I love their Honeymooners marathons. I wish that WPIX was nationwide like WGN.
KJH278 12-31-2007, 06:33 PM I remeber When WPIX aired the Marathon with any interuptions, why can't they still do that give the News Casters the Day Off

How many years have WPIX been doing that?-lol
Frank Gannucci 12-31-2007, 07:58 PM I read on the news ticker here that WPIX started the annual marathon in '76. It became an annual tradition on New Year's Eve 1995 (that marathon if I remember correctly started at 10pm and lasted until 7pm on New Year's Day 1996.)
