USATVFAN 12-17-2007, 12:22 AM Do You Prefer George And Louise Interactions In The Early Seasons Or In The Later Seasons? OH Nuts! 12-17-2007, 08:41 AM They were always great so I'd have to say all of the above. The show, and its wonderful main characters, could do no wrong. TVFactFan 12-19-2007, 06:13 PM They were always great so I'd have to say all of the above. The show, and its wonderful main characters, could do no wrong. No they were on a different enetertainment level in 1975. Were always watchable but they just were too wild when the show first started tanquant 12-20-2007, 10:34 AM I like the early years. George was a lot funnier and not so nice like he was in the end. KurtfromPitts 12-22-2007, 02:37 PM I think the early years were best, particularly because of Mother Jefferson. TVFactFan 12-22-2007, 02:41 PM I think the early years were best, particularly because of Mother Jefferson. Why because of Her??? Brieannas21 12-22-2007, 11:32 PM I like Louise the best in the early years, with George I liked him in both. TVFactFan 12-23-2007, 01:26 AM I like Louise the best in the early years, with George I liked him in both. Yeah Louise Lost something after the 1st season too. You never heard her say things like the statement below after season 1 "George you got your nose so high in the air you would need a 10 ft pole to pick it" Brieannas21 12-23-2007, 02:18 AM Yeah Louise Lost something after the 1st season too. You never heard her say things like the statement below after season 1 "George you got your nose so high in the air you would need a 10 ft pole to pick it" I think that she was more down to earth, In the later seasons she had that "rich woman" mentality. catlover79 12-23-2007, 02:19 AM I think that she was more down to earth, In the later seasons she had that "rich woman" mentality. Well said. I too liked her relationship with Mother Jefferson. Those two were a riot together. mikeny99 01-11-2008, 12:43 AM They were best in the first seasons. The show was on so many years that they changed a lot from the start of the show to the end. They didn't even look the same anymore. TVFactFan 01-11-2008, 10:28 PM They were best in the first seasons. The show was on so many years that they changed a lot from the start of the show to the end. They didn't even look the same anymore. You didn't know people change as they get older??? jamesanthony 01-14-2008, 02:28 PM I think that she was more down to earth, In the later seasons she had that "rich woman" mentality. She was still nice and had some humility about her (check out "My Best Girl Louise", "My Maid My Wife" and "And the Winner Is"), but she became rather proper (no more black English spoken) and began wearing fur coats and such - I was watching the year 4 DVDs and she had at least 3 different fur coats that season- imagine that she wore a full length one when she went to check on George when he was sending gifts and money to his old address in Harlem. You'd think she would've dressed down to go to the hood??? And many of her wigs were way over the top- too big and extreme looking. Florence was the one who was down to earth from the middle of the series onward. There's an episode in year 4 where George and Louise are arguing and Louise reminds him that he was the one that wanted all the status symbol stuff not her. Yes, she got used to it and it would be unrealistic for her to have been like the Beverly Hillbillies for 11 seasons. In at least one later show she encounters someone who is poor and it is obvious that she no longer fits into that milieu. But seriously look how many people go overboard when they come from poverty and into wealth- all the rappers and celebrities who display their material possessions to excess. Louise wasn't anything like that perhaps because they had been middle class for awhile living in Queens. i like that version of the Jefferson characters the best and note that Louise almost never wore any real jewelry on that show (maybe a chain or rather low key earrings but not the multiple pieces and excessive makeup she wore in the Jeffesons). OH Nuts! 01-17-2008, 08:19 AM No they were on a different enetertainment level in 1975. Were always watchable but they just were too wild when the show first started I can understand why you feel the way you do--we all have our own tastes and preferences, and sometimes, certain dynamics strike one person more strongly than they do another. There may have been a different tone and style but George & Louise were always wonderful to me, IMHO. They always clicked and you knew they really loved each other. RWCTV 04-05-2008, 03:19 AM I personally liked them from every season, but if you watched an episode from the earlier seasons and watched an episode from the later seasons you would think that they were from two completely different eras. After all, the earlier episodes are so 70's in every way, and the later episodes are very 80's, and more compatible with today both culturally and by design (i.e. the sets, furniture, clothing, etc.) Jude The Obscure 04-06-2008, 07:41 AM George tended to be more mellow in the later seasons, while Louise, esp in the final years--they didn't seem to know what to do with her. (Witness the Sammy Davis Jr. episode) TVFactFan 04-06-2008, 09:46 AM George tended to be more mellow in the later seasons, while Louise, esp in the final years--they didn't seem to know what to do with her. (Witness the Sammy Davis Jr. episode) And her personality seemed to be different in the 80's, LESS PLEASANT while george was MORE PLEASANT-lol Ireneparalegal 05-21-2008, 05:47 PM I prefer seasons AFTER Louise dressed up more and got rid of that silly bun. It made her look old and dowdy. |
