Has anyone seen the ad for the Clapper Plus? It turns on/off the lights and other appliances by pushing a button. It's like the little handheld device that locks/unlocks the new cars. But they still use the "CLAP ON, CLAP OFF" jingle and the name Clapper is used for the product. But YOU DON'T CLAP to use it, so WHY USE THE NAME CLAPPER!?? I know it's stupid, but it just annoys me no end when I see it on TV. OK, I feel better now that I've gotten that rant out of my system.

If you feel better Monika, then I feel better. ;) I haven't seen that ad, but can I say what ad bugs me? It's the one where the young boy comes home, and to show how he's carrying germs, he turns into one giant germ. We see his insides, just crawling. Then, they show a the phone, covered with germs too. I think it's for Lysol. I'm too busy being disgusted to catch what they're even advertising. That clap off feature would come in handy about then, lol.

I never saw that one, Monika, but what always annoys me is those "Chia Pet" commercials. "Makes the perfect gift" they say. For WHO? Did you ever know ANYONE who actually wanted that thing?

They should say it makes a great GAG gift. One of my sister's best friends gave her one for Christmas as a joke several years back. Plus, do you ever see ads for the Chia or Clapper any other time of the year? Have you ever seen one aired in May or June?? Didn't think so.

Never seen it...but I'd take one if someone wanted to buy it for me. That way I could be lazy and not have to get out of bed or walk in the dark to get to my bed at night.

Yes, some commercials are so God awful they should be used to torture spies. But then there are the clever & fun ones, like the '84 commercial with Clara Peller in the Wendy's one looking at a 0.3 oz burger and exclaiming "where's the beef?"

Hey - I LOVED the Where's The Beef ads! Clara Peller was a rock goddess!

There's a TJ Maxx ad playing for the Christmas season right now and I can't stand it. A woman is supposedly taking a picture of her husband holding their baby in front of the sofa after opening gifts. She's talking in this stupid "baby talk" so you think it's at the baby at first - then realize she's ignoring them and taking a picture of the leather briefcase she bought her husband.

It's so stupid!

I don't mind most of the ads mentioned in this thread (I've seen several of them). But I'm surprised no one's mentioned the one for HEAD ON. "Head on, applied directly to the forehead!" I swear, they must repeat that sentence at least 10 times during the commercial.

THAT could be used to torture spies, LOL.

Oh yeah, that one cracks me up..."He's a maniac, MANIAC...."

Here's a dumb one that other Chicagoans may have seen. It's for "Luna Carpet."

Man: Will you marry me?
Woman: I can't marry you. You have the ugliest carpet I've ever seen in my life.
Man: But I paid a fortune for this ring.
Woman: Well maybe you should have bought new carpet instead.

We have never had cable. Then again, I'm not home all that much so I don't really care. Usually I just watch the classic shows on DVD or listen to music. However, my sister and brother-in-law have cable, and from time to time I'll ask them to record something for me.

Speaking of commercials, anyone seen the one for Cambell's soup yet that they play every Christmas? It's the one with that snowman that comes into the house, eats the soup, melts and turns into that demonic looking kid? lol that one always freaks me out. Especially that last frame where it's a shot of his face and he looks like he's just been posessed.

Now that I think about it, that one could have run during the 70s and 80s but I thought it made a comeback. I'm sure it wouldn't have been like the original one tho - that one WAS creepy!
