Mary J. Blige fires assistants who make homophobic remarks because she insists they can't be counted upon. The R&B diva is a fervent gay rights activist and refuses to tolerate people who have issues with homosexuality.

She tells gay magazine The Advocate, "I've heard a couple of guys say foul things, and those guys are not around me anymore. When they say things like that, I'm looking at them like, 'What makes you so scared? You don't know who you are?'

"I don't dislike them or anything, it just makes me wonder about them period... If you're not sure about that, then you ain't sure about a lotta things."

very cool to see that she practices what she preaches. She strikes me as a "no BS" type of personality, she says what's on her mind and stands by her convictions

What did they say? It sounds like a scam to me. She fired some people who made 'homophobic' remarks, see how tolerant I am and great?

actually, I think it's great. There are a lot of singers who come out and try to court the gay community because they know it's a market that once you've won over, you have their support for life (which is why I find it funny that politicians love to bash the gay community, gays are the only reason Liza Minnelli even has a tour to collapse during at this point in time), but yet associate with types who go against what they're preaching, so it's nice to see Mary walking the walk, instead of preaching openmindedness and associating with people who have no beef using the f word without apology.

also, there aren't that many gay and lesbian rappers and r'n'b singers and so for her to denounce and condemn this form of discrimination is great. i respect her for that. being from a minority group herself, its wonderful that she has come out to lend her support for another
