Enter the out of control and drug fueled world of Pittsburgh's Babylon.
Brian Kinney is reigning king of clubland in Pittsburgh.
He and his close group of friends party early into the morning night after night at local clubs like Babylon.
Brian is a party promoter for club owner Gary Sapperstein. He's paid thousands a month to come up with outlandish and wild parties to get people to come in the door to Sapperstein's club. He very rapidly has become a superstar in the club scene and is looked at as a god by club goers at Babylon.
Brian was often a fixture at Babylon anyway so he looks at his job as a bonus.
He gets to do something he normally did for free.
Brian cultivates a scene for young disenfranchised gay men to become a part of.
He and his friends/followers are dubbed The Lost Boys.
He and the lost boys are paid handsomely to offend people's sensibilities on a nightly basis.
They and their king Brian Kinney base their careers on pushing extremes.
Club Promoter Gary Sapperstein hired Brian around six months ago to act as the main party promoter. Prior to Kinney coming aboard, Sapperstein's clubs barely broke even.
Sapperstein gives Kinney cart blanche to do whatever he wants to the club. Shortly after coming on board Brian designs a back room. He also builds a VIP Lounge.
In addition to his salary, Brian receives a budget for each party in a lump sum.
He uses that money to hire various performers as well as the party favors that make the party even better.
Brian picks a theme and hires a DJ to play the bass infused dance music.
a swarm of Lost Boys always surround Brian Kinney. He dispenses drugs to them like it was candy, always saving some for himself.
He makes sure drugs are always available at his parties.
Critics proclaim Babylon to be nothing but a veritable drug supermarket. Kinney of course hired several of the top drug dealers in the Pittsburgh area. He puts them on the payroll of Babylon.
Kinney and his friends do these dealers' drugs for free in exchange for getting a regular paycheck from Sapperstein.
Police are paid a high amount of money to look the other way. That will change though when Police Chief Jim Stockwell runs for mayor and vows to crack down on the drug
every week club goers come to see what Kinney's fertile twisted imagination comes up with next.
Kinney cooks up the ideas while Sapperstein takes home enormous profits.
