I MYSELF BUY TV DVD SHOWS THAT I LIKE & ALSO TO HAVE A COMPLETE COLLECTION.

I HAVE A FRIEND WHO BUY ONLY SEASONS SETS HE LIKE ONLY.

EXAMPLE

HE (MY BEST FRIEND) HAS DALLAS SEASONS 1-7. HE SAID HE WILL BUY SEASON 8 IN FEBUARY. BUT HE WILL NOT BUY SEASON 9 (THE DREAM SEQUENCE) BECAUSE HE DIDN'T LIKE S-9. BUT HE WILL CONTINUE WITH SEASON 10-13. THAT'S FINE I DIDN'T LIKE S-9 MUCH EITHER, BUT I'M GOING TO BUY IT FOR MY COLLECTION.

DO YOU BUY TV SETS TO HAVE A COMPLETE COLLECTION OR DO YOU ONLY BUY SEASONS YOU LIKE

I READ ON ANOTHER THREAD THAT SOMEONE SAID THEY HAVE BEWITCHED SEASON 1-5 BUT HE/SHE WILL NOT BUY SEASON 6-8 OF BEWITCHED.

DO MOST PEOPLE ON THIS BLOG BUY SEASON SETS THEY ENJOY ONLY
OR WOULD THEY/YOU RATHER HAVE A COMPLETE COLLECTION.

I'm one of the people who has Bewitched seasons 1-5 but I'm not going to get 6-8. I'm not a fan of the Dick Sargent era, not only because he had no chemistry with Elizabeth Montgomery, but because the stories were almost always recycled from earlier seasons. It's like everyone just gave up, and it showed on screen. They should've just ended the show after Season 5, but I digress.

well I've stopped watching it for a bit but I plan to buy all seasons of Charmed except seasons 5-6. Those were just terrible I enjoy seasons 1-4 the most though 7-8 was ok.

My Cosby Show collection stops with 6, I can tolerate Olivia but can't stomach Pam episodes

I won't buy the final season of Roseanne and barely made it through 8. In fact I didn't. I couldn't stand it any more.

Apart from Punky Brewster and a few one-season wonders, I almost NEVER buy the complete series of any show. Even with my fave Remington Steele, I have yet to buy the 4th and 5th season set.

Also with Three's Company I only bought seasons 2 through 5.

I only buy the cream of the crop basically. Any mediocre seasons will be left on the shelf.

I think that's ok because the series is not complete on DVD anyway since their is a edited season 1. I might buy season 7 and 8 but it won't be a rush to get it

I have a lot of old shows like Ozzie and Harriet and Dragnet that came on anthology DVDs of public domain stuff......If i were to buy Cheers, i'd only want the Diane years (1-5), i like the other 6 seasons, but, not enough to buy them. (Of course, i wouldnt buy any series that i can watch in syndication*, and so far Cheers is still playing 3 times a day here!)
*Corner Gas is an exception here, I have the first 3 seasons on DVD and watch them all the time!

true, the sets are so cheap that I might get 7 and 8 too. A lot of people hate Olivia but to me, even if she wasn't a Huxtable by blood, she felt much more like a member of the family than Pam did. It still felt like The Cosby Show in season 6 with Denise, Martin and Olivia, but Pam never really assimilated into the Huxtable family I thought. I liked Erika Alexander on Living Single but on Cosby, she's shark-infested water.

Ahh the Simpsons...that's a good one. For me it would have to be That 70's show. The last few seasons were terrible.

I stopped buying Moonlighting after S3 because I could not bear to see again how the greatest show on TV at the time lost its way. Better to end at S3 after they had just "done it" for the first time.

I will not buy Law And Order beyond S5 because I can not stand Sam Waterston or any of the other new cast members who came on board afterwards (frankly, the golden era of Law And Order ended with S3 for me).

I am iffy right now about going further than S4 of Bewitched. The repetitive annoyance of Endora has made going through the episodes up to this point a bit tedious.

Daniel Boone I have so far not gone beyond S2, because the departure of Veronica Cartwright I think was a bad move, and also I don't see many interesting guest stars in subsequent seasons to justify getting the additional seasons.

I might not buy all of Beverly Hills 90210, after the characters Brenda and Valerie left, I wasn't into the show anymore. The show wasn't the same anymore when a couple of the original characters had left. Alot of the newbies I couldn't stand!

If/when Sony ever continues releasing The Nanny on DVD, I'll buy S3-5, but prob. not 6. Although I do really like "Yetta's Lettas," the ep. where Max produces a musical based on Yetta's old love letters. So I might even cave and buy that season. But I def. wouldn't pre-order or buy it right away or anything.

That is if Sony ever gets around to releasing it . . .

This is a good topic. I like to buy a lot of shows and their full seasons, just to own the complete collection of. Afterall, it may look a bit silly to have just seasons 2, 4, 5, and 8 of a show and not the rest (just an example).

The ones I may not buy are All in the Family season 9 (could not stand the show by that point), Family Matter seasons 8 and 9 (if the show ever makes its way to DVD in the first place-LOL), and One Day at a Time seasons 7-8 (the show was getting dumb by then, and the girls were too old really, but I would buy the last season)

S2 of "Knight Rider" is actually the high point of the series so I would recommend getting it (besides, it's the one season with Rebecca Holden!)

Thanks for the tip, but I'm still very undecided about it. I may rent first just to make sure that it's what I really want. Again, however, I do appreciate the tip.

That's what I do with TV series before I decide whether or not to buy them, but I take the shows out of the library. Have you ever checked TV shows on DVD out of your local library? You get a great selection, you're not stuck with it if you don't like it, and it's FREE!! :D

That's what I should have done with "The Fall Guy" S1 before I blew out $60 on it. Unfortunately, I've been to the Caroline County Library here in Denton, MD (I've been staying with my sister Michel for the month of December, and I'm scheduled to leave this January, I believe), and they didn't have, in my opinion, a very good selection. Although I liked "The Fall Guy" well enough to finish it out, it had some music replacement that I didn't know about until I opened it. I bought it from the Borders in Westfield Annapolis, and Borders has a very strict return policy on videos-- if you open it, you're stuck with it. In other words, if it's opened, you can only get replacements on the same item (at least, that's how I read it). What I could have done also was check to see whether the set would be unedited before I opened it-- that way, if it was edited, it would have still been wrapped and I could have gotten a refund. I could have done that or bought one of the half-season volume sets from the Wal-Mart for $20. That, I think in hindsight, would have been another good option-- that way, I wouldn't have spent for a full set. But, as they say, hindsight is 20/20-- you live, you learn.

I may buy seasons 4 to 7 of STAR TREK: VOYAGER and STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION since I don't like the first 3 seasons of both series. I was thinking of buying seasons 1 to 3 of THE ODD COUPLE, but after reading about the music edits on seasons 2 and 3 (and there's sure to be ones on seasons 4 and 5; unfortunately) I'm just going to buy season 1.

I've already got the first couple of seasons of "MacGyver" from 1985-87, but I'm not sure of getting any others because of complaints of terrible picture quality. If you have or have purchased the #3 "MacGyver" (that is, season 3), I'd like to know if this is true (that it does have terrible picture quality).

I've never heard of a studio releasing poor picture quality dvd's.because they know that it want sell well & it would be a loss of money. that's weird
maybe the people that complain about terrible picture quality have a HDtv
that capture every tv grain. that give the dvd a poor quality. i don't know.

i heard that hd capture everything, and the star hate it. i heard that hd make j-lo & other stars look horrible because it can capture the real you unlike regular tv.

When My 3 Sons finally comes to dvd[CBS has for some reason delayed the 1st season dvd]I'll probably only buy the 1st 5 black and white seasons which I think is the best.Imo the show jumped the shark when Bub left 1/2 way thru season 5 and jumped even further when Mike left at the beginning of season 6.

I've finished the first two seasons' worth of "Lucy," and that said, I'm unsure whether to purchase any more. I had said once before that I wanted to get all of it, but I have my doubts about whether the cross-country trip or the Connecticut episodes will be fun to watch.

I'm contemplating on not buying this past season of Monk. I already have 1-4, and I want to buy 5, but I haven't enjoyed the show since Stanley Kammel died last year. I may end up changing my mind and buying them all, though.

I would also only buy Charmed seasons 1-3. I didn't care for Rose McGowan as much as I did Shannen Doherty.

Speaking of Shannen, if I were to buy Beverly Hills 90210, I would only get the first couple of seasons. After that it turned into a soap opera. I know that's what it is, but the earlier seasons were better.
