As some of you know, I lost my cousin Jamie back in April. He was killed while on duty in Iraq. He would've been 21 in August. It's going to be very hard to celebrate Christmas without him. :( My uncle was divorced when I was little and was taking care of my cousin by himself when he met Jamie's mom. They got married when I was around 8 or 9. It's going to be hard for my Aunt because Jamie was her only child. Is anyone else going to be spending Christmas missing a recently lost loved one?

Sorry also about your loss.It is always hard around the holidays when a loved one is gone. I will also pray for you. My children will be spending Christmas this year without their father. He was murdered in July. It will be hard on all of us.:crying: :rip: We miss you.

This will be my first Christmas with absolutely no grandpas around (both my grandmas are still alive). My maternal grandpa died when I was 11 1/2 years old, three weeks after Christmas, in January of 1997.

My paternal grandpa died not that long ago, and I posted about it here at the time. He died a week before Halloween... we haven't spent Christmas with the paternal grandparents in years, but we still at least spent some time with them around then. It's still weird realizing that he's not around anymore now.

:crying:

For myself and my family, we don't have our mother anymore so it's hard for us kids and my father; she died in january of 2005. :rip:

For my boyfriend, he recently lost his mother; passed away in september and also lost his oldest brother in 2005 so now it's only him, his father and other brother who lives in ontario. :rip:

My two friends, one lost her father in august and the other one just lost her mother in october so, it will be pretty hard for them. I should mention that my friend who lost her mother in october; also lost her father back in 1991, I think it was; I've lost track but, now she lost her mom. :rip:

Lulu, again I am sorry for Jamie's loss. When you first brought it to my attention I was absolutely stunned and hurt. I hope it brings you some comfort to know that I am proud for your cousin's unselfish act of protecting our country and continuing the job that was started so long ago by my own father in WW2 and the men before him. What an honor to have men like your cousin to have loved our country so much that they give up their lives for our freedom. THANK YOU JAMIE AND ALL OUR TROOPS.

I am blessed to have not lost a loved one this year. Thank you God. I do miss those who have died in my family.

For those who have lost someone this year, I am sorry. God Bless you. :bighug:

The "firsts" are always the most difficult. First holiday, first birthdays (theirs and yours), first anniversary of their passing, on and on. I have no real words of comfort, Lauren, as I know your emotions have to unfold naturally. I can't find the right words to say to you, when I just cried myself, looking at your cousin Jamie's picture. That beautiful, sweet, innocent face. I'm so sorry for your family's devasting loss, and I pray that God gives you and your family the inner strength to cope during this holiday season.

Thank you all for your kind words about Jamie. It will be hard without him, but it's going to be even harder for my Aunt. I can't imagine losing my only child, not to mention the fact that they weren't on very good terms at the time. They hadn't spoken for several months, Jamie was being very childish and holding a stupid grudge against his mother. It sounds terrible to say that since he's gone, but it's the truth, he broke her heart. Needless to say she is having a very rough time.

I am very sorry for your loss Lauren. :( My Mom died back in October 2002 and tomorrow would have been her 70th birthday. It's still hard to deal with the Holidays without her. I lost my Favorite Aunt this year so I'll be thinking of her too. Christmas is the best Holiday in the world when you have family to share it with but as you lose some members it can become the worst. My prayers go out to you Lauren and to anyone else who has lost someone close to them.

I'm so sorry to everyone who has to go through the holidays for the first time without a loved one. :( Our family has been fortunate I haven't lost anyone this year. I have a feeling next year I will though. The doctor said it will be my grandmother's last Christmas. For the last four years or so, she's been dealing with colon cancer and she's losing the battle. :( I can only imagine how hard it is around the holidays and my prayers are with each and every one of you. :bighug:
