Aunt pleads for return of child believed abducted by parents

The aunt of a missing five-year-old girl is making a plea to the child's parents to bring her back.
Toronto police continue to investigate the disappearance of Alana Livas, whom they believe was abducted by her parents, Vivene and Peter Livas, on Nov. 30, 2007. Alana was last seen in a parking lot of the Children's Aid Society in Scarborough.
Alana's aunt, Jean Chin, is making a public appeal for the safe return of her niece. Chin had had custody of Alana since July.
Alana has rickets, a softening of the bones. It's a rare condition caused by vitamin D and calcium deficiencies. There are only about 50 cases reported across Canada each year. Chin said the little girl had made tremendous progress in her care.
Alana's parents lost custody of her in March 2007 when they failed to bring the five-year-old to a medical appointment as per doctor's orders. Authorities don't believe they realize the seriousness of the little girl's condition.
"We are appealing to Peter and Vivene, as caring parents of this young girl, to please come forward, do the right thing and take her to a medical facility as soon as possible," Searl adds.
A brown Acura investigators were searching for was located on Monday, with the plates removed.
Police believe that the license plates BCCL 451 may now be on a blue 1998 GMC Jimmy. There are also several other license plates that the alleged abductors may have access to. They include:

In October 2006, authorities in Utah found the body of a 9-month-old little girl in a shallow grave near Provo, Utah. The worst part, police say, is the fact that she was buried in a trash bag. Immediately, the search began for her parents, Baldemar Reyes Espino and Yudit Nava Lopez. Now, cops believe that the couple has taken their two other children south of the border to Mexico.
