Raiders Of The Lost Ark star Karen Allen was stunned when Steven Spielberg phoned her and asked her to be part of the new Indiana Jones movie - because she was just a sweater shop owner in rural Massachusetts.

The actress, who played the adventurer's love interest in the first Indiana Jones film, turned her back on Hollywood years ago and moved to Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

There, she runs a yoga studio and knits scarves and sweaters, which she sells from her town store.

Allen also teaches at a local college, and she had no idea she was being considered for the fourth Indiana Jones film.

She says, "Steven called and said, 'You know why I'm calling... We're making another Indiana Jones - and you're in it!' I was jumping around with joy."

that's nice that they decided to give her a role since Hollywood is rather sexist/ageist when it comes to females from movie franchises from long ago. Just look at how they decided to kill Adrian off in Rocky Balboa because Talia Shire hadn't worked in ages and they were afraid to put her in a mainstream release in 2006.

^ I would've LOVED to see Talia Shire back on-screen and am angry that they didn't want her in the last Rocky movie. I'm happy that they are giving this chance to Karen Allen.

Speaking of Karen Allen, she was also the subject of a #1 hit song which was Oscar nominated. Her one-time boyfriend, Stephen Bishop, wrote "Separate Lives" after their breakup. He recorded the original version, but the song skyrocketed when Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin made it into a duet. The song was also Oscar nominated, as it was used in White Nights. (It lost to another song in the same film, Lionel Richie's "Say You, Say Me"). Karen Allen was also married to former Another World star Kale Browne, and they have one son together.

I never knew "Separate Lives" was about her. That and "Against All Odds" are the only ballads I love from Phil Collins (I admit I much prefer him as a rock guy)

Since this will probably be the last Indiana Jones movie, it's nice that they brought back Karen Allen to bring the Indy/Marion story full circle.

I'm really glad that she'll be in the film. That will bring the series full circle.

True, and I'm also glad she will be in the film. Too bad they couldn't talk Connery into reprising his role.
