View Full Version : Lucie Arnaz and Laurence Luckinbill
NOVARick 12-06-2007, 02:31 AM It has occurred to me that, as of last month, Lucie and Laurence Luckinbill have now been married longer than Lucille Ball and Gary Morton. Lucy and Gary were married 27 years and five months at the time of Lucy's death. Lucie and Larry -- notice the rhyme, Lucy and Gary/Lucie and Larry -- married since June of 1980, have now been married 27 and 1/2 years. So that marriage has endured longer than any in a few generations. Lucy and Desi were married 19 and 1/2 years. Lucy's mother, Dede, was married twice. Dede's first marriage ended with her husband's death after four years. I'm not sure exactly how long the second lasted, but I'm sure it was less than ten years. And Desi's parents divorced when he was a young man. I don't think they made it much past 20 years. Desi Jr. has been married to his current wife for 19 years so far.
comedyfreak 12-06-2007, 05:22 AM That's interesting news.

You've piqued my curiousity & I'm going to google Lucy & Larry today.
BTW, as long as I'm on the horn, I really love your posts--always so knowledgeable and illuminating. I learn so much from you--thank you for that!

Thanks for saying that, Rich. I appreciate your input as well. Your opinions seem very well thought-out and give us things to think about.
catlover79 12-06-2007, 03:45 PM This is interesting info. I also read in Keith Thibodeaux's book Life After Lucy that his wife and Desi Jr.'s current wives knew each other before they met their husbands!! They are both ballet dancers and had roomed together in the past. Isn't that cool?

I so agree as well. Any tibits, info, news, gossip, etc. regarding Lucy, Desi, Viv, William or kids is always welcomed and very informative. I really appreciate the time you take Rick to post these things.

Thanks, Irene. Everybody here plays a part, perhaps you especially. You're always there keeping this board active and offering interesting insights and topics, which is much appreciated. You and Madame X. And speaking of Madame X, this is really starting to worry me. It's been nearly a month since we heard from her.

I remember Keith T. telling that story at one of the Lucy conventions. It is a pretty amazing coincidence! What are the odds? Makes you wonder.

Smaller than you think. I've met someone this week right here in this very forum who had the same second grade teacher I had, and knows some of my childhood friends!
Ireneparalegal 12-07-2007, 10:47 PM There it is!!! IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTERALL...c'mon sing...

No, Irene, please not THAT song! I last time I had to endure that song was a couple years ago when a friend came out to visit and insisted I go with her to Disneyland (aka, "The Most Miserable Place on Earth"). :barf: And while there, she also insisted we go the "It's a Small World" ride, where we waited for what seemed like an enternity in line listening to that song play over and over and over and over again. omg: I was about ready to put a gun to my head! I told her next time she comes out here, if she wants to go to Disneyland, she's going alone!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry... I know what you mean. A trip to Disneyland always means having to visit SMALL WORLD. It wouldn't be so bad if that song didn't have to be played to death while you are standing in that long long long long line.  ONCE IS ENOUGH!
Did you ever see the movie SHREK where they do their own version of SMALL WORLD? I love it!!!

With that song, once is TOO much.

No, I haven't seen that. Unless they're making fun of it, I'm not sure I could bear it.
Ireneparalegal 12-08-2007, 01:35 AM It is hilarious. The melody is the same, but the words ARE NOT and that is what makes it so funny. They give you the impression the little children are going to sing "wipe your a$$" because the little children are bent over showing their butts and some crack, but instead quickly say "wipe your face". You have to see it to know what I mean...and besides, it is :brent
