Isn't this a horrible name? LOL - almost sounds like Haggard or a hag. Who would ever name someone that?

Witches have strange ways I guess..

It fit her though, remember? She kind of was a hag.

 It IS an ugly name. However, I did sort of like the name Enchantra.

It makes you wonder who came up with all those unusual names for the characters, doesn't it?

OH Nuts!

very witty & imaginative writers. (Reason #1683 why the show's so great--I'm exaggerating of course--but it is a long list)

My favorite Aunt Hagatha was played by Reta Shaw. In The Trial and Error Of Aunt Clara Hagatha and Enchantra looked like old crones and were played by different actresses.

Reta Shaw was also in a couple of episodes of I Dream of Jeannie. One episode she played a pawn shop lady and the other one she played a colonel. That happened quite a bit, Paul Lynde was on I Dream of Jeannie three different times, playing three different characters. Sandra Gould was on an episode and she played a cleaning lady.

But, I do agree about the names they chose for some of the characters on the show, very unusual.

She was also the house maid in "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir". She was definitely a familiar face in '60s sitcoms.

Yes, she was...a terrific character actress.

And she was on The Lucy Show too :)

I also loved Estelle Winwood's one appearance as Enchantra. She was the Fairy Godmother in "The Glass Slipper".

Can someone do a screen capture of Hagatha in The Trial and Error Of Aunt Clara? She was played by a different lady and more homely looking.

Ever notice every witchs name on the show ended in "a", : Samantha, Endora, Clara, Tabitha, Serena, Esmerelda, Hagatha, Enchantra... oh wait there was Mary one of the witches that picked on Aunt Clara.

According to producer/director William Asher (in the book Bewitched Forever), that was intentional.

Not every witch ended with a, but you gave an example LOL

The only other witch I can think of whose name didn't end with an "a" sound was Elspeth, the nanny from Season 4.

Reta Shaw was also in the movie "Mary Poppins".

Reta Shaw was popular in the 60's, she was everywhere including The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.
