I went over to FYE today at the mall since I am a "Backstage Pass" member as well as having hundreds of dollars in store credit to see if they had the new Scissor Sisters DVD that came out today, and the manager went on a "we won't carry Scissor Sisters until they apologize for their comments". A year ago or so, Jake Shears said in an interview that he refuses to shop at chain stores like FYE because he believes paying $20 for a CD is highway robbery. Wow, I just find that so funny and petty that they're boycotting them because of that. And I know it's all because SS is just a cult band in America who mainly only appeal to gay men and fans of campy pop music (on the other hand, they're huge in Europe and have #1 hits to their belt), I just know that if Justin Timberlake or Kanye West had made the same comment, that there would be no chainwide boycott of their releases because they make too much money, whereas Scissor Sisters might only sell a couple hundred thousand copies at best.
I swear, big corporations can be so petty. I see nothing wrong with a singer coming out and saying that he believes $20 for a cd is way too expensive, and to boycott them chainwide is absolutely petty.
