I don't think they're in reruns YET, but I don't think it'll be too much longer before they are. Instead of rerunning current soaps, wouldn't it be awesome if the defunct classic soaps were aired instead? By that, I mean, Another World, Edge of Night, Search For Tomorrow, Love of Life, The Doctors, Ryan's Hope, Santa Barbara, Secret Storm, etc. They'll never do it, but we can still dream!!

I know that I'd personally LOVE to see some classic soapy goodness.

The reason why I asked is because I have 2 friends who love there Soap Opera's and I know they would be upset if there CBS Soap Opera's would be in reruns.

Or at least they can show really old reruns of the current soaps. I can actually see that happening.

I'd rather see reruns anyday over them being pre-empted by sports coverage.

All of the soaps will continue to produce new episodes, with scab writers. For more information and insight, you can check out this thread at Soap Opera Network: http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=22765

I hope the strike doesn't affect my soaps, but if it does, I wouldn't mind seeing some of the classic soap episodes!

I wish CBS would do this more. I know it happened back on holidays sometime ago.

Yeah, I think they usually do it at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

They stopped airing classic episodes on CBS for holidays a few years ago. The last time they did it was 2002, and that year, they aired GL from 1983 and 1992, ATWT from 1985, B&B from 1992, and Y&R from 1991 and 1998. I think those are correct, but I'm not too sure.

As far as I know, soaps will NOT go into reruns at all. When/if the regular writers are fired, scabs will continue the shows. They'll use the headwriters' original visions, but once those storylines run out, it's up to them to write their own stuff.

^ I don't know about the others but I know you're right about the last classic GL being from August 28, 1983 (the day where Phillip Spaulding finds out who his real father is). Somehow that was the only one I got on tape.

Holy crap, according to this (http://www.cbspressexpress.com/div.php/cbs_entertainment/release?id=17428), we'll get a somewhat classic episode of Y&R on Christmas Day this year. It's from 1995. There's also gonna be an airing of B&B's 2003 Xmas episode, featuring the divine Darlene Conley. Guess who's gonna be taping both of them....yep, it'll be me.

oooh yay!!! I know I will too. I hope I remember. I wonder if they'll air any older episodes of ATWT or GL.
