TripperFan 12-01-2007, 11:04 AM Wow - that is a long time. What do you do? The last time I was out of work it was for about 5 weeks and most of that was going through the interview process for a position. I'm unemployed again now and hope it won't be long at all because of some several drastic life changes that have been thrown my way. I hope you get something good soon. They say the best way (87%) is through networking with friends, family, former co-workers and anybody you can basically talk to. OH Nuts! 12-01-2007, 01:07 PM How long were you unemployed until you finally got a job? To me, It's 15 months and counting.... Three months. Max Whittaker 12-01-2007, 02:09 PM So far I've been lucky. I transitioned from one job, to a temp job, to another job, effortlessly, with no unemployment time. Life, however, does happen. 80s_Fan 12-01-2007, 02:23 PM I've been out of work now since Oct. 13, 2007 because I quit my job; and now I'm having a hard time finding something else. I hope that I find something really soon or right after the holidays. I'm going  OH Nuts! 12-01-2007, 02:29 PM I've been out of work now since Oct. 13, 2007 because I quit my job; and now I'm having a hard time finding something else. I hope that I find something really soon or right after the holidays. I'm going  Something's that worked for me in the past is temping. It may not pay a lot, some of the jobs may be beneath one's skill level...but there are several plusses to temping: 1-it get's you out of the house and gives you the structure of working 2-if you do a good job where you're sent, the co. may hire you permanently or keep you in mind down the road 3-also if you're a good worker, someone where you're working may know of an opening somewhere else & put in a good word for you...for ex, their sister-in-law may have quit a job because she's moving someplace new & now there's an opening in her law firm for a receptionist or a biller....4-if you do a good job for the temp agency, they'll always keep you busy or try to, meaning more opportunites in 2 & 3 above. Also, 5-register with a lot of temp agencies--this way you'll always or often be busy. TVFactFan 12-01-2007, 06:06 PM How long were you unemployed until you finally got a job? To me, It's 15 months and counting.... 3 months. dawsongirl 12-01-2007, 09:58 PM Let's see....I won't count unemployment while in college because I wasn't looking to work, so from the time I graduated in May 03 until November 03...so about 6 months. And then I ended up with the worst job imaginable...should have stayed unemployed. |
