I love reading the ratings threads at Marc Berman's site. I have no desire to join in, but I learn a lot and get a lot of laughs. I read a thread last night on Wednesday's ratings, and it took me almost two hours. I was LOL like crazy. There are some real characters over there.

When I was into politics, I used to lurk at democraticunderground.com. I signed up years ago, made a few posts, but decided that just lurking was more fun.

There are two chronic pain sites that I read. I may sign up at one, but I'm not sure. I do learn a lot though from those sites.

Youtube, not a member. A few others that I can't think of at the moment.

The thing with me is that I'm not interested in becoming part of another online community, as SO is enough for me, and I don't want to make friends anywhere else online.

I lurked here for 3 years and 3 months before I finally joined.

I lurk at Marc Berman's site too, I also lurk at a couple Cowboys boards and I read some of the boards at TV.COM though I don't go over there much. I go to Youtube too although I'm not a member.

Well, sometimes i go read message boards about different NHL hockey clubs, cartoons, or anime* , and just read them and leave without joining.

* Or anything else that i might have an interest in reading about, but not discussing

I usually join forums and lurk around but never post. I feel better being a member for some reason. >_>

a few months ago i read about something mind-blowing that happened on the somethingawful.com forums. you have to be a member to view the board which costs a $10 fee, so i joined. i needed an "archives account" to read the thread i was after which cost another $10, but it was totally worth it. i still lurk there sometimes out of boredom but i don't post. they're really strict and borderline unfair anyway, there's always at least five or so members who get banned or put on probation every day just for saying something stupid. hell, if they saw this post here and knew who i was there, they would probably ban me for ****-talking their administration.

OH Nuts!

Sometimes I go to sports message boards just to read what people are posting. Or I find myself looking at message boards pertaining to computers or other electronics for help on things I'm having problems with that I can't figure out. I've found a lot of really useful information that way. :D

I was going to say I don't lurk anywhere... but then Sarah reminded me that I also occasionally lurk at SomethingAwful's forums. Haven't done so in a long time, though... but their stuff is hysterical.

Wait, does joining but not posting much count as lurking too? ;) If it does then I have loads of sites to add.

I guess that's a question for me since I asked the question. This is a question for lurkers. My intention is not for people to list sites where they are active. We've had those threads before. Personally speaking, I lurk at a couple of sites a lot, and I have no desire to become a member. I was just wondering if anyone else does the same thing. I guess the answer then is, no. :)

No I meant sometimes I join sites but never post there... and if I do I post very little - not sites I'm active on. :)

$20 just to post at a forum board?? :eek2: Someone has a lot more disposable income than *I* do  (What a ripoff.....And they are likely to ban you, besides!!??)

Yeah. I have a normal account at Something Awful that cost me $10. I don't really think it was worth it - I don't post there much at all.

Now I'm curious about Something Awful, since you, Sarah and Allison have mentioned it.

Yeah, a few....most of them I used to actively post at but sort of dropped, most notably TV Land's message boards (quit them when I gave up on their stupid network).

I should register at TMZ.com because I check out the site almost every day, and I always want to give an earful to some idiot who makes a rotten comment.

Yeah...I joined that and posted for a day or something, and never did again. I'm a member of the GSN mb too, but I also have not been there in years.

city-data.com (fora for all 50 states--and a few metro areas; Tony/Fleet mentioned it on this newsgroup)

skyscraperpage.com (pictures of skyscrapers and cities)

There are some fora for which I am a member but don't post anymore; radio-info.com (talks about radio stations) is rapidly becoming one of them since I go there only to get the latest news on the radio front. Ditto for UrbanOhio.com (a Buckeye State version of city-data.com combined with skyscraperpage.com).

It's an alright forum I guess. A little strange, but some posts are fun to read. There's no real sense of community from what I've saw like there is here at SO.

There are some sites I dont reg on mostly because I cant!!

The stupid captcha wont show for me!!

Even if I use One of the newer browsers on my dads mac laptop!!

Things have become so hard now its sad... The saddest part about it is,IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE if people would just rise up against all this!!
