Wyclef Jean is begging the mother of his former Fugees bandmate Lauryn Hill to force the singer into rehab. Jean recently dismissed reports the Fugees are recording a new album, insisting Hill is too "out of control" to work with.

He said, "I believe she's completely out of control and has lost touch with reality. Lauryn has some serious issues she needs to address. This difficult side of her has taken over and it's about time someone called her on it."

And the 35-year-old is now making claims the singer is bipolar, and he's blaming her ego for turning her into a monster.

But he tells Rolling Stone magazine, "You can't get angry with someone who's sick."

So, Wyclef is calling on Hill's family to force her to seek psychiatric help or counseling.

He adds, "I even called her mom and I stressed to her, 'Yo, you need to get her psychiatric help.' But I think they all fear for her to death. She wasn't always like this - but if someone has the ego, and you keep feeding the ego, it's going to turn monstrous."

If she needs help, why is he talking to Rolling Stone magazine? Keep it private you fool.

My thoughts exactly. Telling the media isn't going to make it better.

it's so odd that about ten years ago, it looked like Lauryn was on the verge of taking the world by storm, her first solo album won so many Grammys and sold a lot of cd's and was so well-regarded and then...... nothing. She did a live album a few years later that came and went without much fuss and since then it's been pretty barren outside of people talking about how terrible her live performances are now.

A shame, it's a real "what could've been?" with her because after Miseducation, it looked like Lauryn was going to be a huge superstar

What if anything is wrong with her? I haven't read or heard anything abt her other than what her former bandmate is stating.

^ well, I know Lauryn is rather notorious for hating white people. It was well documented some years back when she went into a restaurant and refused to have a waiter wait on her because he was white, she demanded the black waitress who was on the other end of the place. And she also went on television years ago and said she'd rather have her baby die of AIDS than see white people in the audience of her concerts.

thanks for investigating. I never really cared about her one way or the other but I always found it nuts that someone would say something about such a large portion of the population, unless she really didn't want to sell records
