"O" for "Obituary" (a season eight episode in which a man named Wendell R. Bergendahl discovers he's deceased while reading his obituary in the morning newspaper).

"P" for the late Peggy Pope, who guest-starred in six episodes playing five different characters during Barney Miller's eight-season run. May she continue to rest in peace...she is still missed.

"Q" for "Quo Vadis?" (the fourth season episode in which Barney gets shot--well, grazed, actually--and his long-suffering wife, Elizabeth, issues an ultimatum to him: either resign from the NYPD or their marriage is over).

"R" for derelict Ray Brewer, portrayed by the late John Dullaghan in six episodes.

S = Stinky meal that Yamana was cooking

"T" for "Thanksgiving Story" (in honor of this Turkey Day weekend, obviously). I still watch it every year while I'm gobbling down leftovers!

Another "T" would be "The Tontine," one of my favorite episodes from season eight.

"W" for the special hour-long season five episode "Wojo's Girl," which was a backdoor pilot for a proposed spinoff called "Off Duty" that would've focused on the personal lives of the detectives of the 12th Precinct. Sadly, the proposed spinoff never materialized beyond the aforementioned episode.

"Z" for Zatelli. Dino Natali's recurring performance (five episodes) as the eventually outed homosexual NYPD officer was memorable.

"A" for ABC, the network that aired Barney Miller.

"B" for Barbara Barrie, who played Barney's long-suffering wife Elizabeth.

"C" for liquor store owner Mr. Cotterman (played by the late Jack Somack), who was later murdered in season seven's "Homicide, Part 2."

"D" for Dietrich.

G = Gout, one of Fish's many ailments

"H" for one of my all-time favorite episodes, season five's "The Harris Incident." The late Ron Glass was superb in that episode. And the late Michael Lombard's performance as unemployed stockbroker Stanford Whitney was a gem. "The Harris Incident" ultimately earned the late Noam Pitnik an Emmy Award in 1979 for Outstanding Direction In A Comedy Series.
